Oh my god I don't understand why you guys have to leach onto the usual argument people bring up which is "HURRR ELECTRONIC MUSIK IS SOOO EASY TO MAKE LOOK ILL GO ONTO FrOOTY LOOPZ AND MAKE SUMTHING RITE NOW"

No, I'm not arguing that it's difficult to make, and I honestly don't care if your opinion differs. I was speaking my opinion and then making a request, even if it was blatantly in an offensive light. I'm not going to loose sleep for every one of you I don't convert!

EDIT: Also yes, I do know Deadmau5 live mixes, but the traditional term is still 'DJ' and that is still what he is being when he plays a show. Like I've said, the older Deadmau5 stuff is some of the better electronic music I've heard, but his new stuff has taken a wrong path.

Guys, Dna is just here to troll.

How about you piss off and don't convert anyone.
I hate dubstep and whatever else almost as much as you do but I don't publicly bitch and moan about it like a little girl.

damn you. I wanted that.

And I never post here. :cookieMonster:

I was joking about the convert thing, why do you think it was clearly sarcastic in nature? I'm not that full of myself~

Guys, Dna is just here to troll.

"I don't agree with this guy, so he MUST be trolling!"

Yeah, no. I might be arguing but that doesn't instantly mean I'm trolling anyone? Trolling is usually much more subtle.

lol I can tell

holy stuff i love this rocket song so muchhhfhdshfnagfha

he knows, he just doesn't understand opinions and has a dying need to make sure people stop liking what he dislikes.

You know, I got the Fruity Loops demo (which comes with all the features the producer edition does except you can't reopen your work once you've saved it) and man composing EDM is way harder than I originally thought.

What the hell? That's not what I'm saying about you at all. I'm saying you don't know how hard it is. Then you turn around and contradict yourself in the same sentence. Please form rational thoughts.

Next, I don't give two flying forgets if you like EDM. You took the initiative to come into this thread and point out in a richardish manner that you do not like the music that we're discussing. Then you go and begin mocking it and start spewing statements such as, "objectively bad." I don't know whether or not you understand the concept of opinions of different tastes in music, or you just feel its your duty to piss people off. Either way just shut up.

or
"Hi I'm electronic music that isn't repetitive and flat!"

uh

dude

that's repetitive. hear those drums? they're repetitive. hear that melody? it's being repeated.

I want you to find a single piece of IDM that doesn't repeat a drum rhythm or melody. no seriously, go find one. if you do, I'll stand corrected.

I don't give a stuff what Deadmau5 thinks he is. He is a DJ. He is a disk jockey. Just like a MC is now more of a "YO IM GANGSTA MC IN DA HOUSE" it still means master of ceremony.

dude. he's not a DJ. think and believe whatever you want, he's not a DJ. you can wish he were a DJ so you can diss on how he's a DJ all you want, he'll never be a DJ. sorry.

Also holy stuff Skryleks is bad and you should feel bad for liking his mop head.

"lol he's got a hairstyle that you don't see every day, I should hate on him."

"lol this guy likes his music, I should tell him to stop liking it because I don't like it."

Electronic music is made using various equipment, including synthesizers and electronically altered noises. It can also encompass 100% computer made sounds. These sounds are put together into what humans perceive as music. Jesus this isn't the argument I'm making. I'm not saying these people aren't putting a lot of time into making bad music but they are still making bad music.

well I meant specifically how it's made, because anyone can go out and buy a stuffty $50 casio keyboard and forget around with the default presets. spend an extra $3 and you can get a cable that hooks up to your computer so you can play the keyboard into your computer.

And ok maybe I shouldn't generalize so much. I'll revise my previous statement. Everyone I know that is worth knowing has moved on past the wubstep genre.

you're still generalizing a whole lot, lol.

you obviously haven't heard The Veldt.

What I was saying is that I don't understand why you even had to bring it up in the first place. The excuse "Oh it's hard to do so it's ok if it's sub-par" doesn't really work. If it's poorly done, it's poorly done, no matter how hard it was to do in the first place.

Yeah I took the initiative but isn't that what forums exist for? To discuss and bicker amongst ourselves? Ok yes I shouldn't have just kicked the door down and screamed into your ear "HEY YOUR MUSIC IS BAD" but most of the points I have brought up are perfectly ~valid~

Ok and onto Raeldoy;

It's not overly repetitive. Of course it has to be a constant beat in order to even sound like music, if you want it to be completely non-repetitive you'd better go listen to wall noise or Frank Zappa. I guess I should phrase this better. It's beat and layered sound is complex and varied enough that it doesn't sound as if the same exact clip has been copy-pasted over and over again.

It may repeat a melody but generally not right on top of itself. Now I know there is bad IDM. Every genre has the misled masses following the terrible group. I'm not saying IDM is some god send miracle genre that is perfect in every way.

He may not be a DJ in the traditional sense, but imo he's still a DJ whilst playing in a concert. But lets agree to disagree here.

Please don't try to defend Skryleks. He's just bad I refuse to delve into this topic anymore. It's not about his hair in fact I could care less. Just please god no.

Do you have to know absolute specifics of how the music is created to enjoy it? If so man I have been missing out ; ;

Yeah it was a joke~

I'll be honest, no I haven't I'll go take a listen.

EDM is actually kinda hard to produce.

Ok and onto Raeldoy;

>"raeldoy"

lol

yes but even in the electronic music we like, it's a rare occurrence that a clip is copied and pasted over and over again. and even when that does happen, that's what modulation, EQ, and effects are for.

It may repeat a melody but generally not right on top of itself. Now I know there is bad IDM. Every genre has the misled masses following the terrible group. I'm not saying IDM is some god send miracle genre that is perfect in every way.

same thing goes for EDM bro. I don't like skrillex a whole lot but he's currently the biggest name in EDM aside from Daft Punk, and it's all due to the fact that the "misled masses" love him and his music. trust me, I don't like those people very much myself. they think skrillex is the best thing ever, and that he is EDM. I hate that.

He may not be a DJ in the traditional sense, but imo he's still a DJ whilst playing in a concert. But lets agree to disagree here.

fine by me.

I'm not defending him lol, I'm saying that you should stop telling me and everyone else in this thread what they should and shouldn't like.

no, I'm just saying that you should realize that all good electronic music (whether it's EDM or IDM) requires quite a lot of skill, knowledge, and effort, not to mention dedication and time, just like all other genres of music.

I'll be honest, no I haven't I'll go take a listen.
