Starmie felt more useful to me. Starmie's a lot more versatile IMO

All the extra time that gets put into battle tactics since you don't have to grind out levels and such makes it really enjoyable for anyone who likes strategy games. It's kind of hard to get into at first since a lot of on the fly decision making requires knowledge of standard movesets, EV spreads, etc. But once you do, the predictions and sacrifices made during battles get really intricate in high rated matches.

haven't been keeping up with events lately, looks like NA is still pretty much in the dark

if you purchase the new games at walmart you can choose one of the sinnoh starters (turtwig, chimchar, piplup) with their hidden ability

there's also a gothorita but I'm not quite sure how it's obtained so I'll get back to that

got quite a bit of OP updating to do, looks like most of the images broke in the last month and the global link section is terribly behind so I'll get on that soon
