I don't blame target. Your friend shouldn't have touched the kid. Instead, he should have told a worker there. You and your other friend shouldn't have just walked away. You also could have told someone that worked there. Though, the person that told you that you were involved is stupid, because yes, you didn't do anything, but because you were his friend and just ignored it is what he should have had as a reason to ban you from the store.

When he keeps on insulting you, and then HITS you, that's when you tell someone that works there. Again, the kid clearly has parents that don't give a stuff, which results in a kid that clearly doesn't know any better. When it gets as bad as that, a good friend doesn't just walk off. He helps out. But I'd recommend in an ethical way.

i remember there were a lot of kids like that in my 8th grade class. they thought they were hot stuff just because they went around being starfishs. basically, all you have to do is find their mother or father. they will usually leave you alone if you say something like "i'm going to follow you until you go to your parent, then i'm going to tell them you tried to rape me."

I know we were seen. The problem is that my friend was banned for defending himself and the rest of us were banned for knowing him.

The only reason he touched him was to restrain him to stop the punches. He even told me afterwards he didn't want to punch the kid back because he didn't want to be arrested for fighting him.

The only reason we walked away was because my friend clearly had it under control. The kid hit him once and was instantly restrained. I felt it would look worse if all four of us confronted a this kid instead of one. The one who restrained the kid is also in 9th grade so they were close to the same age group. It would be terrible if I got involved. I do regret just leaving though. I figured after it happened the kid would have learned not to mess with random people and that would be the end of it. If I would have known Target would trace us all I would have stayed to file a report.

While Bopizku has a bit of a point, I would still go so far as to say that what John did should be acceptable and not result in a ban.

After all, the kid (despite being a minor) was still the one who initiated the conflict by throwing the first punch. John reacted in a manner a lot of people would react in, but he went a step further by not even physically harming the kid. If anything, this could be claimed as self defense, and there are obviously several witnesses who would attest to that.

I'd say you should defiantly cause a ruckus with higher ups; even if you can't convince them that John was in the right by defended himself, at the very least you and your other friend were obviously not a part of the fight and should have not even been considered as a part of the mess. For all the managers knew, you two were passing by who happened to witness the event. Really, this is just bureaucratic bullstuff.
