i prefer shadows over maps, yeah the iconic maps will get removed, and i know a lot of die hard veterans are going to be sad at that, but wouldn't a bit of change be good? and plus, this is a big step.
You try riding a jeep up a mountain made of cubes.
cause you know, ramps aren't useful at all

EDIT: i can safely say that getting rid of interiors can be a wonderful thing, like swholli said for example. when people started to build on slate maps, stuff got real. i think i'd prefer looking at lovey big ass builds rather than generic maps

I would HATE this update, not to overreact or anything, but I would quit if this update happens, because it will ruin map making and things like that!

but since when has map making become the objective of this game? sure they're pretty but now people will actually build stuff! with these new shadows, builds will look 10x better with these fancy new shadows

This update shows they care more about graphics than gameplay.

"oh boo hoo interiors are ugly"

it isn't possible, get over it.

The content will be limited to what we can build with bricks, and that is obviously a severe restriction on our creative ability.
This is absolutely wrong. In truth the exact OPPOSITE is going to happen. People are definitely going to have to be more creative now with their builds since they can't just load up some crappy mountain map, slap a bunch of plates down and call it a build. They will have to build their surroundings rather than just load up some garbage prebuilt mountain.

They are ugly. They have the equivalent graphics and complexity of an N64 game. This is 2012, not 1995. It is time to move on.

Too loving bad map making isn't the point of the game and more of an accepted nuisance than anything else.

Don't get me wrong, there are some good maps. Some really good interior maps, especially Viano/Paradise/Worlds.
But forget, the shadows and shaders are awesome. You could rebuild Paradise/Viano easily. The point is that we (FINALLY) can have some good bloody progress on the game we love.

And also, GameFanDan had Block-Terrain which was ok and the RPG was fun. If you can't get your stuff working like or anywhere near it, your fault.

~~PRO v21~~

im pretty sure some modifications to the terraingen that we have currently can be made to create smoother brick elevations, but that's just a theory

I'd rather have better maps than fancy lighting, really.

There is no room for maps to get "better".

Yet again, the only comeback you have are graphics.

If terrain and interiors are what's holding Blockland back from better updates, what more can be added to the game? More maps that are bound to disappear one day? Bricks, tools, vehicles?

Those will get boring eventually, i think Blockland is currently 'maxed out' in features it can have on this old version of the Torque Game Engine and without removing anything or changing to a new version of the engine

Good job ignoring everything else I said and dismissing it all as a "comeback".

This update will allow far more possibilities that terrain and interiors restrained us from doing before. It isn't just about graphics. Tons of other stuff is going to get better and new features will be possible as well.

So we're at the end of the road?
with terrain and interiors in the way, yes, we are.
