I just have a small question. If I am going to play let's say MapleStory (look it up if you dont know) and Blockland, browse the internet, viewing videos, just those standard things, would Linux be the same or better then Windows 8 on this laptop?

you could always dual-boot if you wanted to, there's nothing wrong with doing that.
heck i do it. i still have to use windows for fl studio and certain games, which i rarely play.

I heard you had to change your BIOS which could severely damage your computer.

You can safely change your bios if you know what you're doing.

you don't change your BIOS at all
if anything it will automatically change the boot sector on the drive that the bootloader is selected to be installed to so that the bootloader can actually run, but that's about it

not really, the laptop itself is pretty broken. the screen is half detached and moving the computer around almost breaks it :s

i wouldn't be surprised if the thing just stopped working before i break it
