Author Topic: "Remove "In God we trust" from legal tender" Petition on Whitehouse.gov  (Read 30589 times)

I think a violation of the constitution is supposed to be top priority. Probably says so in some law or something. This is a violation, even if it might seem minor.
The Constitution is the law.

I believe in god and I don't approve of this. Now I ain't full out "ZOMG GODZ RAEL U R STUPID" religious but I don't like it when atheist shove they're beliefs in my face and this has taken it to far.
The athiests are the one that have to read "in god we trust" every time they look at currency. It's not like the petition is to add "there is no god" to money, it's to try and make the state a completely neutral party by removing any reference to any religion.

i personally couldn't care less if it says "In God We Trust" on my dollar bills or not, i just want to use my money.

This whole thing shouldn't matter to Christians or athiests.

This.

I know. Violating the constitution is the biggest offense something can make though. I think I mixed words up or something.

Shoving our beliefs in your face? What? Currently, the motto is doing just that. Its shoving god into every American who uses money's face. We want to replace it with a latin phrase that has nothing to do with god. Read this stuff before you start bitching about it and making false claims.

I don't think this will accomplish anything.

I could really care less if it's on a piece of paper that I will never see again, so it's not hurting me.

Pretty sure the majority of intelligent people deemed this website as useless after the Legalize & Regulate Marijuana petition with hundreds of thousands of signers was simply responded to by the U.S.A. Drug Czar who is legally obligated to oppose the legalization of recreational drugs. They respond to petitions with watered down answers that are common knowledge anybody who actually knows about the subject they're supporting or opposing.

On a more relevant note I support this cause, but am not going to waste my time signing to petition. Separation of church and state is essential.

why is it difficult for people to understand that e pluribus unum is a much more suitable motto for america

just because it's hardly visible doesn't mean a motto shouldn't accurately represent the thing it belongs to

i don't see why this matters in the least
oh no a motto on my penny says something about god

Asdf I never used to make that mistake.
everybody who says is seems to say "could" though
even though it's wrong

I like to conserve things how they are. And I don't like how they're trying to take anything god related off of everything just so someone won't be offended.

I hate change :'c

i'm glad you're one of the few who actually acknowledges that it's a mistake

everybody who says is seems to say "could" though

i've never heard a british or australian person say it like that
seems like american butchery to me
