meh. I love the server, but, needs more uptime.
If I'm on blockland 24/7 and the server's up 3 hours a day, I still got 21 hours a day to fill.
This is, I believe, a problem. Nobody can be on when important events happen that pertain to their character.

I'm sorry that us hosts/super admins aren't the work-horses you dream of having. I wish that someday you guys will learn that we are people too, and there are other things we must attend.

And before anyone suggests more hosts again, keep in mind - there are only so many people you can trust and maintain.

Working on the server in singleplayer, going to be doing some bug fixes and stuff.
I'll update the save some time soon.

Listen carefully, my role-players.
When you see your friends, relay these words:
Prepare for unforeseen announcements.

I might be a little while.
You can announce it, Awdax.

Should I just log into Skype and copy-paste those paragraphs I sent you?

Might be easiest, haha

So it's obvious what a big part the story has in the server and each player's experience. Emphasis on the player's experience in the server. Now sadly these experiences can't be full of the desired satisfaction. The server is public when hosted, so you have all sorts of people joining. And sometimes the outcome can have some tiny adverse effects. There is a slight lack of consistency and this plays a big part in the role-play. The Bluzone-team wants to improve on that. So me and a couple others have discussed a new hosting proposal.

The idea is that we will have two different sessions. There will still be one server - though the server title with differate depending on what the current session being hosted is. There is the private session - open to regular role-players and people to keep up-to-date with the topic. They know the rules, how the server works, the story - they know everything because they keep up with the topic. There will be a password avaliable to these people in the OP. This stops public players that happen to be browsing the server list from joining and possibly causing an issue. Private servers will consist of the main events and storyline, and everybody will be up-to date with things.

Public servers are basically what we host now. There is no password, anybody who stumbles upon the Bluzone can join. Everything with this will be kept the same except the consistency. There won't be any big events or advancements in the story-line. It just allows the public players to experience the in-depth role-play we provide - and if they like it they might come across the Bluzone's official topic and gain a better understanding of the server - then gain access to the private server.

To sum it up, there can be two different hosting sessions. Private - for the regulars and people who frequent the topic, and public - for anyone. There are still some things to discuss and work out - this is just the basic idea.

Welcome to admin brainstorming at 1AM.

PUBLIC SERVER SESSIONS
Hosted by Super-Admins only, and available to the public

PRIVATE SERVER SESSIONS
Hosted by both Admins and Super-Admins, and available only to those who have the password.

The password will be posted in the thread before each session.

Public servers will be designed for more casual and passive roleplaying, whereas private servers will be more reserved for serious events and things that impact the roleplay, or just when you want to have some serious roleplaying without interference from other players.

Two servers seems dumb. The general populace isn't on the forums and while it keeps the dumbforgets all huddled up together in their on little sandbox, it will have bad administration, and they will quickly tire of rping with handicaps, ruining experiences. Smart people will be turned away from the private (Not every smart guy has a forum account) and trolls will cause havok in the public ones.

No one is going to want to administrate the public servers. It's going to be full of idiots, and will be a chore to provide for.

I say keep it the way it is with the server being closed and super admins joined by regular admins on most occasions, but give out a password for when it is up in the op. If people think it's neat or want to check it out they'll ask for the password on irc and if they don't seem dumb it can be given.

Only one server actually.
Just different sessions

There will still be a password when the server is being hosted privately and when it's locked out to everyone. The title will be changed though between [PRIVATE] and [LOCKED] so players know if the password they are entering will let them in.

From what I've seen in the topic, and past experience with the first Bluzone - the general populace that does regulate the server do frequent the topic. The public session will not have bad administration. That's why only super admins can host it, and choose if they want to. I know I will. Trolls in the public will still be banned. Things will run the same as they do now.

Difference is that the private session will allow people to stay up to date and not have their experience ruined.

Ah. misunderstood.

Well my point about people not wanting to host public ones still stands. I know i'm not going to join the public ones if there's some kind of private server where all the non mongoloids will be.

The private session is seeming more like a good idea if it's going to just be major things.

also hey kniaz i did a thing:

I'll still be hosting public servers, and I will be promoting/violently enforcing that my other admins still do so.

I have an idea for an alternative: stop complaining that you're not up to date on events or whatever.
I mean seriously. We try to find a way to make people happy but you still don't like it.
