I've been playing AP Tristy again and I'm trying to decide what the best way is to scale out of a hilarious midgame to a less counterproductive lategame.
why not scale into a hilarious lategame too?

her ult has a huge ratio

And a huge cooldown.

And a huge cooldown.
Bahahaha that is not true lol

Anyway, I just got an AP Yi pentakill in a normal!
I was down 0/4/1 and I just consistently played carefully after that and eventually we got into a teamfight where I just eliminated them one by one. Later on I also got a quadra kill into an ace.

I just looked and oh god it's her other cooldowns that are high. lol
But it makes sense because because it's 1 steroid and 3 utility that do high AP ratios.

Yeah. It's easy to win lane, though, because she's already meant to be an auto-attacker, so you just pair it with an Explosive Shot, then push them back, and if they get too close to their caster minions, lasthit one to do radius damage to them. After that, once you hit level 2, you should usually go for a rocket jump as soon as they're close to the caster minions again. When you land on them, fire off another explosive shot, then start walking back. Since they're slowed, you can usually do the same lasthit minion trick to damage them even more. After that they will usually be frightened into submission and you just have to wait until 6, at which point you can easily half-health burst them.

malady and the 5% ap passive on masteries to go with quick shot though? y/n

Her W refreshes though on a kill

I personally don't think that it's worthwhile in the slightest, since it's a small bonus and you don't use your auto-attacks much late-game. You're much better served rushing a deathcap honestly.

And this is the beauty of it.

Nah, the bonus isn't that significant, only 5 damage per 100 ap..
You're better off just going straight ap

True.

I put the 5% on anyway, because sometimes my autos just don't cut it, and when I have 400-500 AP it starts to become a significant buff. Earlygame it is useless though. The only point to it is that slight dps to add to explosive shot + ignite.

I get it because I'm tired of playing ap chars and having my targets get away with ~10 hp

Well with both the mastery and malady, it's 15%. With 500 AP that's adding 90 damage to your auto attacks. You also get AP and attack speed from malady as well. It also reduces their magic resist to add even more damage. Also 45% attack speed on top of your 90% from the Q.

I would agree with you 100% if that fitted my playstyle at all. I've gone for malady and I've ended up believing that I should go full AP or full AD, but not anything in-between. You could make the argument that I should be auto-attacking leading up to a combo, but I find that counter-productive. If I'm spending my time auto-attacking them, then I'll be better served by an adc set-up. If I'm going for bursts of damage then I can't spend anything on AS as it will be a sacrifice of my burst damage.

That's true, seeing how the 25 AP on it isn't that great for it's cost.
