I agree completely. The level of stupidity coming from the shader fanboys in this topic amazes me. People saying "it will allow for more updates", and "people will build better" clearly have no idea what they are talking about.
Yeah, people
clearly have no idea what they're talking about when
kompressor and Badspot themselves said that Terrains and Interiors complicate the code of Blockland tremendously. It may make better updates in the future, but it will also make faster updates as they don't have obfuscated code to deal with.
This update is all about making the game look better for potential buyers. It has no thought into actual gameplay whatsoever.
Currently we're using rendering extensions from 2003. It's 2012. I'd say it's time for an upgrade. Whist I can agree that "Gameplay > Graphics," you'd just have to strive harder to actually make people enjoy your build or server. Gameplay wouldn't change a bit. It may be a bit tougher for new players or younger players who wouldn't understand how to make a giant badass house, or build an enormous terrain build, but then your imagination isn't limited to the predefined walls of the Bedroom (and the edges of Slate,) and you can create your hearts desire, which I find more fun than it being built for me.
It will not make people build better, it will only reduce this game to freebuilds and RP's.
I concur with the fact it won't make people build better, only harder; but it will most certainly not reduce the game to just freebuild or roleplaying servers, the host (or builder) would just have to make their own terrain or interior our of bricks. A dogfight server would be the same, only with terrain made with bricks. Your argument on this point is invalid.
