You realize the only thing that is different between a Mac and a PC branded computer is that one uses OSX and the other uses Windows 7. The parts that they use are made by the same companies, Intel, AMD, NVIDIA, etc. The computer itself is not more reliable. It's just the OS. And that depends on your own opinion.

my OS has never had any issues, while my dad's has needed to be reset with a disk multiple times. my computer gets hot if i overwork it, my dad's melts. parts like a graphics cards are good to have made by the same companies, that way I don't need to pay for Igraphix or some stuff in the event that my card breaks.

It's because people who don't really know what they're doing blame the computer for their own mistakes. Both are fine computers that have the same capabilities. I don't see where people get this "Oh my mac will last longer" stuff from, because I have a 8 year old computer running Windows XP in my basement and it still works.

So.. what exactly does that have to do with Windows? His computer overheating is most likely either his fault, or likely the fault of whatever setup he bought. If that was the case then he needs to look into what he buys a little better.

So because he bought an awful computer and/or treated it poorly all PCs are crap?

This reminds me of the conversation I had with my brother. He got a new car (For free, might I add) and he was complaining about how the windows weren't electric. His argument was that when he was smoking he couldn't put down the back window and let the smoke go out easier. I said "How is it the car's fault you're a smoker?".

Let me explain.

You get what you pay for, if you buy a good PC it will last just as long as any Mac. The thing is not all PC manufacturers make decent PCs where as because only Apple make the Macs, of course they are going to have a better track life on average because they are the only ones who make them.

i implied that the cheap ones are crap. people are going "ohh, you pay sooooooooo much for your mac" when the they buy some stuff machine for 200 bucks at walmart. My dads is a 600 dollar dell laptop and that piece of stuff melts when it gets too hot because the designer thought plastic was the optimal heat resistant material.

The only reason why your dad's computer would melt is because of a crappy case design choice. Only AMD and NVIDIA make graphics cards, and as far as I know your point is invalid because Apple only use Intel CPU's and AMD Graphics.

They don't only user AMD graphics. I have NVIDIA GeForce 9400M 256 MB (crap, I know, nut that's what it is)
