Now we need a spaceship, and... zomg... you should make a secret Arrakis (from dune) planet far off in some hard to reach area.

Thanks, and huh? Why copy planets? or do you mean copy map? Well, your free do to whatever as long as it pwns.

Just so you know, planets are made of 2-4 parts.

Ok, now I am stuck. I am trying to find and alter the sun in the map. I can find it on the list in F11 but have had no luck finding its physical representation in the level.

Anyone know how to make the sun visible?

Can someone make an emitter that I can place in the level that will act as the sun? It must be huge and look really sun-like (lol).

Next on my to-do list is saturn. The rings are gonna be a challenge. I think I will use another DTS shape for that.

For now the Magic carpet will have to do as an 'escape' vehicle to other planets other than the typical observer mode.

The "Sun" is just a "flare" effect and a general light on the whole level from a direction. This should be lined up with a sun on the skybox to work well. There is no sun physical object, just a set of properties affecting lighting.

That means I am gonna need a sun model or effect. Anyone know how?


Its similiar but my planets look round from the outside and have their own special properties.

Forgot to ask...Ladios, can you try and make some asteroids please, various shapes and such. I am planning on having an asteroid belt in the map.

Wow. However, you may want spacestation bases IN space. SO you can have them w/o glitchs.

Good idea. I think I will make that. :) do you think 3 will be enough?

You could make a version with none, a version with 3, and a version with 6 just to be on the safe side and make everyone happy :D

anyways awesome so far, anyways, can you walk in a 360 around a planet or is the gravity the same ol same ol "fall forever thata way"?
if so, could you make the gravity extremely low to compensate?
im not much of a map maker, so i dunno the mission editors power. Sorry if anything mentioned is impossible.

I'm afraid spherical-based gravity sources are not possible in Torque, atleast not on a playable level.

The maps that you actually build and walk on are giant semi-spheres with the flat bit on top. This is surrounded by a giant sphere which makes the planet appear spherical from the outside.

As for different versions of the map...maybe. Different versions are a hassle to make and are kinda annoying on both sides of the fence (mappers and users) so it might not happen. I think you will likely see several build pads around earth and of course there is a moon. I may add small moons to other planets but that will come later.

Attached is a picture of what the inside of earth looks like. The green area is where you walk/build. I may add tunnels and underground area later.

UPDATES:

Mars is now complete. Each celestial body so far has their own gravitational fields with different effects.

Space now has its own gravity modifier so you will now appear to 'float' in space. Due to TGE issues you do slowly lose height but its not noticeable.

Oops...forgot to ask.

Anyone have any idea how to add a damage thing to a physical zone? I want space to kill! ...over time. Not instant.

I also need a kill trigger that says "playername got imolated in the sun" and perhaps "Nice going Icarus".
