Shortly after being amazed that I reached sector 5 on my absolute first playthrough, I was massacred.

Overzealous border patrol boarded my ship while an assault drone and their weapons pounded my shield. After blowing up my oxygen generator, they stormed the engine room where my rock guy was working. I drew the crew from my shield room and weapons control, along with a mantis standing in an empty room, to the engine room to fight. While they fought the 2 boarders, the enemies pounded my ship with their weapons fire and destroyed almost every system before I finally exploded.
Here's how you deal with boarders the ungodly easy way: get max level doors: then suck out the air in their current room, and continue to do it if they breach a door into the next room.

I keep forgetting about venting rooms. I need to try that sometime.

Also, my Engi survived a firefight with only 1 hull point left. The problem? Fires in the north end of the ship. I start opening the doors to vent it, and it spread to my oxygen generator. This unholy fire survived in what was almost a void long enough to destroy my O2 generator, and system destruction automatically does 1 hull point in damage...

Just purchased it, will play it soon when I'm done with TF2. :D

this game may be just what i've been looking for i think i might buy it

what if they had a 2 player co-op where 1 person was the ship while the other controlled the humans?

sounds cool
expanding on that thought, it would be pretty cool if you could have a whole crew of different players where they can all do their separate thing, but unless you work together you'll lose
of course the map would have to be bigger and if there are any people survivors then they could send out a distress signal and hope for another player ship
if pirates get you then you'll have to be their slave and wait to be saved or sold

but it would be an entirely different game if something like that happened, a set map and lots of people running into eachother

Genius!

but here's an idea to add onto yours, if you're working as a slave you can attempt to take over or escape from the ship you're working

Okay everyone I'm about to start my first run, wish me luck.

The biggest problem with the game is the saving feature, or rather the lack thereof
You can invest hours and hours into it, then screw something up and need to start all over again, losing all your progress instead of, say, going back to a checkpoint or something at the beginning of each sector.

That's not a flaw, it's a feature.

uh, fullscreen is not working for me. is anyone else having this problem?

Lesson of the day:

Do not try to get the stealth cruiser.

Seriously, it's even stufftier than the Engi cruiser's Type B.
