Which ship are you?

also has anyone watched Plumphelmetpunk play this? He's a really cool game commentator.
i did it on the engi ship, i find it much superior to the starter and the stealth cruiser.

before i even got to sector 5, i got 3 mark I anti-ship drones, level 4 shields, and the augment that allows you to recycle robot parts.

this pretty much is a gg combo right here, you can just spawn 3 of them and set your phasers to ion on their shields and gg.

So I decided to modify the "data" file in this folder (I made a back-up copy, don't worry) and every change I make, no matter how small or insignificant, always crashes the game on start-up.

I'm just curious as to why this happens, because I thought it shouldn't cause problems like that.

EDIT: Even if I don't make changes (just delete a letter, replace the exact same character, then save it) the game crashes on start-up. What the hell.

You know, if you're just modifying existing files, you could Verify Cache to fix it instead. It'd just download instead of locally.

Also, obviously your problem has to do with the program you're using not saving all the data correctly. Either it can't read certain information, or there's extra information it can't see to set again when saving.

Trifax didn't make it back from the giant spiders.....

sorry Carson. ;-;

I'm using note pad to edit the data. Yeah, it's cheap. I'm pretty sure it's not saving correctly either. There are characters that note pad doesn't recognize and it makes them up. Is there any way to make this not happen?

Hey guys, is there any way to change the files to give me every ship?

Do the files appear as a bunch of random characters? Because I assume that means they're either encrypted or need to be opened in a specific program, not just directly edited.

It's not all a bunch of random characters. There are some, but almost all of it is real text.

I got a little bit of progress with the Notepad ++. I get a different error. Should I post it?

EDIT: I think I sort of figured it out. The file needs to remain the exact number of characters in order to work, but that's just me saying what I think.

The later levels really suck if you don't get good sheilding/weapons.

>playing Engi ship

>take out flagship's first wing

>Oh good, it should be easier from here on!

>follow flagship closer to base

>loving drones are COMING OUT OF THE WALLS

>game over man

I wish I had a way of getting money onto the computer, or $9 to spare at the moment.

I want

Someone buy Frontrox it. :D

Ok. Um. Pro tip. Don't modify the Burst Laser Mk. II to fire 9 shots and be incredibly damaging. It may work good for you, but what happens when the enemy uses that weapon?

could i get some tips on using the engi ship? i can't even make it to sector 4 on easy with it...

The one you unlock by getting to sector 5?
If so than just use your drone on every fight and disable their weapons.
