The difference between starving and 9/11 deaths:
People value lives nearer to them, lives similar to theirs, a lot more. Simply because it could happen to them. Along with the invincibility that america felt, it struck a cord. It scared people. It's a sad world when people value lives over others (besides with family, friends, pets, etc.) but it's what happens. We can't change it. So
comments like this aren't valid, I would say .5% of the population actually laughed at a Tsunami in Japan. If they did, it was out of ignorance, not of hate. America is simply more empathetic to America. We value ourselves over other countries. They do the same, though.
