Author Topic: Torrenting Speeds  (Read 1005 times)

or just the ratio of the specific torrent your downloading. try to keep above 100%
Easier said then done when ubuntu for example is 695mb, and my upload is 0.30kb/s, Would have to seed for months!

More games should start using torrent, especially mmo's since they're getting so big (TERA! 25GB?), And i have a habit of closing firefox by mistake and breaking the download.

well thats why torrents always start super slow. then speed up more and more by the hour.
when you dont have many completed chunks to upload, no one is downloading from you.

The problem with torrents is they can die and revive without real notice. Depends on popularity.

is your snake inverted in your eyes cause it looks like it.
Sig'd.

The World of Warcraft launcher for the game uses torrent methods on its patch files for its users.

The recent Pandaria patch was massive though and took forever to download for me.

I hate when people assume torrent = pirating

Never had even 1 mb/s.
Usually balanced between 5-30kb/s.

research dl speed?

Even though torrenting is not always about illegal stuff, i still smile a bit when i see a legal torrent by an official company. :)
EXPLANATION:
I find it funny to see official downloads being torrent files.
I thought it was something of microsoft via the MSDN website that made you download a torrent file.
Not sure though.

ur all cigarettes!!! i get 3mb/s on every torrent download!!!

on most trackers, speed is determined on your upload/download ratio. either total (if its a logged in, private site you are part of),
or just the ratio of the specific torrent your downloading. try to keep above 100%

meaning, keep upload on max at all times!

people disable upload thinking they will get more speed. most trackers are not designed to favor this.

also, even though we arent discussing piracy. this is a dangerous line to walk on in this forum.
As a user of µTorrent, I can tell you this definitely doesn't happen with my tracker. I have my upload limited to 1kbps because I'm a loving monday and I don't want to share. After about five seconds of decoding the magnet link, my speed jumps to 2mbps which is faster than I download from most sites, provided it's a popular torrent. Also, download speed is not limited purely to seeder count. Some torrents have servers seeding for them, and on these torrents I can get 1mbps+ with 2-5 seeders.
