@ Lalam.
Yes the LDS church teaches that God is infinite, and yes it means that god probaly once had his own God, but what proof do you have that the Universe isn't infinite? Our understanding is so limited, that we can't even comprehend what God comprehends. Can an entity in a 2D plane Comprehend the 3D demension? I say that it Cannot.
You obviously are interpreting the Scriptures the wrong way. In order to understand the verses, its helpfull to look at them in context.

Job chapter 38:4-5

" 4 Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding.

5 Who hath laid the measures thereof, if thou knowest? or who hath stretched the line upon it?
"
Job 38:4 Refers to when Christ created the earth. It does not mean that the earth is static. A ships foundation is built and laid by workers and yet it moves.

'6 Whereupon are the foundations thereof fastened? or who laid the corner stone thereof;"

A building has a corner stone upon which the foundation rests upon. It is a metaphor for the earth.

I'm really not sure how interpret any of this to mean that the bible says the sun revolves around the earth.

You take the bible litteraly. In Psalams 93:1 when it says

" 1 The Lord reigneth, he is clothed with majesty; the Lord is clothed with strength, wherewith he hath girded himself: the world also is stablished, that it cannot be moved. "

It does not mean that earth litteraly can not be moved. It is like me saying to you, go take a hike when I do not litteraly mean for you to take hike.

Religion can not prove science and science can not prove Religion. They are two forces that do not mix. I liken it to math- which we both obviously like. Math can not tell me why I enjoying things over others. It can not say why  I feel pain, come up with abstract thoughts, or my creativity. Math can not define happyness, and yet we we feel it. It can not define suffering, which we all have experienced.

It is interesting to note that, at the time of the bible's writing, it was common knowledge that the earth was flat and stationary. So when we see the bible refer to the earth being stationary and flat (Matthew 4:8), there are two conclusions we can draw:

1. The people who wrote the bible thought the earth was flat, and had this notion take part in their writing.

2. The people who wrote the bible were geniuses well over 2000 years ahead of their time. Everyone is just reading it wrong, that's all.

The second conclusion is unrealistic, but from what I can tell is what most apologists are trying to prove.

I will never vote for anyone to become president. Reason: They lied to us! Shall not thy trust axis of president!

I just thought I should add that it was common, uneducated people who thought the world was flat. The Greeks actually knew the world was a sphere in the 3rd century B.C. Buy yeah sorry I'm just trying to be a history buff :p.

"The concept of a spherical Earth dates back to ancient Greek philosophy from around the 6th century BC,[1] but remained a matter of philosophical speculation until the 3rd century BC when Hellenistic astronomy established the spherical shape of the earth as a physical given"

What the hell guys
Stop writing huge walls of text over religion
Besides
Is it really so loving important that you prove your own religious views as true (which I'm assuming some experts have tried to do and failed) that you ignore the original purpose of this thread?
You derailed it, crashed it through the side of a mountain, threw it into a river, sailed it to the ocean, bombed it, and crashed it into an undersea orphanage.
God damn.

Good luck, they'll never shut up.

This thread is about POLITICS, not religion

No one is forcing you to read the thread.
While true, I'm trying to make use out of the thread for political reasons as opposed to religious. Maybe if I made a drama about religion the argument would go there

This thread is about POLITICS, not religion

It's been explained like five times, religion and politics go hand in hand. How can you have a discussion where one of the two major political candidates is heavily influenced by his religion without bringing up the matter of religion at all?

EDIT: Actually you guys are right. While religion is still relevant to politics, the current religion conversation has really gone off topic.

The conversation goes off topic, like you should expect it to, when one side talks about relegion which is very important to politics. *Note* the relegion conversation is related to the political topic of Romney vs Obama.

This video displays perfect examples of how a debate can show the good and bad sides of a candidate without bad-mouthing the other.
