Author Topic: Today's Mainstream Music v. Classic Music  (Read 12906 times)

You're making the same broad, sweeping generalizations as Blok. How am I stupid for liking a certain sound in my music? I don't like today's music but I can comprehend that artists put a lot of effort into their work despite how much I hate listening to it. I do think the type of music I listen to is better and I have listened to the music of today. Hell, I like a few Lady GaGa songs and three or four Daft Punk songs.
Then you're not one of the stupid ones. I wasnt exactly talking about everyone who likes old music is stupid, I like some older songs. I was talking about the people who only listen to classic music, and never even bother listening to todays generation or music.

the list goes on and on

they're not farting in your face, you're willingly walking in while they're using the bathroom
Ehh, it is a little in between. They don't go shove it in your face every minute, but it is unavoidable.

in some cases like radio, yeah, but there's spotify for things like that

Maybe it is different where you live. Where I live, people sing songs in class. We also had a competition during a pep assembly where we had to sing lyrics to pop songs. They also play them on the radios in stores.

We didn't start the fire....

Oh.

Oh.
yeah you're a close minded forget

i guarantee that you didnt look up a single one of the artists that anyone has mentioned

Lol.

1. You don't need a band for good music.

2. Peter Gabriel, the first lead singer for Genesis. Who is amazing. Who Dave Matthews sounds like a little bit. Wore completely insane outfits all the time. It is a cool personality thing and a successful gimmick.
I guess I agree. Like Elton John. He wore really weird stuff.

Ouch. I have looked up a few, just not the ones you mentioned. I can now.

The only reason people do that is because thats whats popular in todays world.

I once went to a pep assembly where everything they played was classical.

We've done that too. In our weight room they usually play classic rock / early metal. I'm just saying modern pop music is unavoidable.

We didn't start the fire....
And that guy is selectively tone-deaf

If your saying EDM doesn't take skill think this,
It was much more easy for me to learn guitar then it is to currently learn just the basics of making a good EDM song. It was sure a hell lot more cheaper to. Any music requires skill to make in my opinion. I hate rap but I can at least appreciate there was work put into it.

Completely different things.
Music is something that is very diverse. Many people like many different things. Just because you dont like something, doesnt mean someone else doesnt.
You make it seem like todays music is causing you pain, when you could completely ignore it and listen to your own stuff music.
its the same thing. When my class decides to blast justin bieber over the room's loudspeakers, i can't simply "not listen". I have to sit through stuff like that, and yes, it does cause me pain. Today's music is terrible, especially our pop genre. I feel like i'm losing brain cells every time I hear a katy perry song in the mall or in the car or on TV.

How about I take a nice squat in front of your face and fart, and dismiss it with "everyone likes different smells". And you're a hateful unfair person if you don't accept that I like that kind of smell. After all, you don't have to smell it!
