Author Topic: Today's Mainstream Music v. Classic Music  (Read 12936 times)

I don't really like metal and hard rock. All of the songs are too similar. They all sound the same to me.

Yeah and all rap sounds the same and all pop sounds the same and all EDM sounds the same

Get what I'm getting at? It's all preference and experience. You listen to two seconds of a metal song and keep listening to a few seconds of other songs and they're gonna sounds the same. There are a LOT of unique artists, not just in the sense of style or genre.

Classic music is the music that it took 10+ years to rise out of the mud pit of all popular music and clean itself off.
I'm not really sure what this means.

New gen music all the way woo

I'm not really sure what this means.
lots of classic music usually wasn't widely recognized when it came out. It took people a while to realize how good it was.

The feces ratio has not changed, it's only the good stuff that's remembered and replayed for you to hear later on and think that everything back then was good.

I realized how good it was quickly because of me being exposed to both at the same time. My dad introduced classic music and my mom introduced modern music. So listening to the crap music of today made me love classic music faster, I guess.

Dont change the title when you know you are losing, plus mainstream is in the eye of the beholder

Tell me these metal songs sound the same after listening to them in full

nah dude that stuff is too modern you gotta be more in line with the thread title.

mainstream is in the eye of the beholder

wut. no it's not.

wut. no it's not.
The people who are mainsteam in other peoples eyes will think that they are not mainstream, its a matter of opinion

the entire point of calling something "mainstream" is to remove the aspect of opinion. if you can call something mainstream, it's to point out that while some people legitimately like it, most people only like it because it's popular.

mainstream means its known/liked by a large amount of people. the itunes top 10 songs are mainstream, that is a fact, not an opinion.
