Just a quick update, the server was ordered today, just awaiting deployment and initial configuration by the datacenter and we'll be able to begin with some real functionality testing. Launch is definitely in sight now, exciting!

Great! Looking forward to August release! ;-)

is it just me or is lugnut making himself look like an idiot?
I don't trust people who spend 5 months bashing somebody.

sorry I'm normal.
Im confused as to how people would ever feel safer giving their key to some random Blockland user rather than a moderator and creator of the most mainstream Blockland mod.

You people are dumb.
said random blockland user has 2 years of experience under his belt.
the other guy isn't a moderator, and he spent 4-5 months bashing the experienced guy.

Why are you still discussing trust issues involving keys? We've gone to great lengths and expense to ensure security, but if the user still doesn't trust us after that, they don't buy a server, it really is that simple. This definitely requires no further discussion.

if you actually read my post (which I know you didn't) you would realize I'm not.
I'm about you spending 4-5 months bashing kalphiters service blatantly in his thread in order to further your own.

if you had not done that, and had instead promoted your service via teasers, or flat out not mentioning it, I would be behind you 100%.

The thing is, this dedicated server is the perfect server I imagined it to be and how Lub has put his time and effort into making the best, for the community. You, 1 out of 500(estimate, don't brown townyse it like a cigarette) forum active users are the one who is bashing this topic about useless things. Lub practically said that security was essencial on this website and pointing out at how he's spent months working on making this perfect, which I am pretty sure it will be.

He's bashing because Lub knows that Kalphiter never spent that amount of time into his servers and that they're really buggy and that people can easily phish keys from the website, as Ephialtes pointed out.

The thing is, this website is beautiful and perfect in every aspect, Lub's design standards are just as perfect as Apple's design. The website's code is most likely going to be designed in a way that is going to be unique and perfect. Surely because Lub is old enough to earn money and actually buy decent dedicated servers to host our servers in Blockland. I think Lub's put a lot of time into this project and I don't understand why you cannot trust him.

Sure he's been bashing Kalphiter on his topic but for forgets sake, I think it's done Kalphiter some good to say that he's got a competitor and that he's gotta' up his standards.

I missed reading loads of pages on this thread, therefore I might be a bit behind on this stuff.

Exactly. It all ends up benefiting the community.

very well. all this is doing is raising my blood pressure and making me tired. I'm not convincing anyone, so I'll see myself out.

I wish you the best.
Don't bash Kalph anymore, thanks.

The SSL certificate costs more than the price of quite a few keys anyway, this is such a pointless discussion.
How much your SSL certificate costs is irrelevant.

Why are you still discussing trust issues involving keys? We've gone to great lengths and expense to ensure security,
No, you haven't done anything to ensure security against you, only security against third parties.

I know this isn't aimed at me here but two seconds.

Lub, here's a question for you; What security features have you integrated into your dedi server hosting thingy to ensure that we're safe?

Using HTTP for key input presents exactly the same "danger" as there is right now for inputting your forum password.

The whole concept of putting your key into a site/server to take ownership of a dedicated server is something that requires trust. I don't think there's anything technically possible that could be implemented that would stop the operator of a dedicated hosting service from seeing keys if they really wanted to.

From the web entry, the key is pushed to the BL server and executed through scripts that never log, never output and never store, all via secure connections. There really is nothing else we could do to secure this.

and do you guys really think that Rub made this service for key-snatching? if you do, don't buy his service, it's no difference to Rub.

Exactly. So stop claiming that your oh so holy SSL certificate means that we can trust you 100%.

This is just claims. There is nothing that can be done to 100% verify it, this is pretty much as close as we'll ever get, but, once again, claims are not a good way to decide on whether to trust a person.

I can only advise you not to buy a server then, can't say it really bothers me.
