On another note, Im considering returning to the world of war... I mean Blockland, after being drawn into the loveyness of Xbox360, Halo3 and Burnout Paradise.

One part of the maze could be a mine environment 

Also the pieces don't necessarily have to be a mini-maze, they can be challenge portions too, be they skill challenges or event-triggered puzzles.

We could have Indiana Jones style challenges, while in another part of the labyrinth there could be an ancient Egyptian mystery to solve.
