Author Topic: RTB Dedicated Hosting Service - Service Closing  (Read 361215 times)

Just wondering...when are we getting the kick/ban from the panel?

Christmas is a busy period for Rub and I so you won't see any new development until 2014.

I will definatly be using this for any server I host.
Great prices, nice layout, its great.

Could I use this to host v20 servers if I wanted to?

No, RTB only supports and permits the use of the latest revisions of the game.

How does it tell?

Running a west coast server improves connections for people on the west coast, but worsens it for those on the east coast. More players are on the east coast than the west, so that's not a favorable tradeoff on average. This isn't that complicated.

Okay that's true.

But let's say that blockland gained 100k more players from steam. (A dream, but just consider)
50k~ players would be on the west coast. Which is bigger than the market for RTB hosting right now.

Most games have servers hosted on west/east coasts for USA. I don't see why it's being shot down, I can see people wanting to buy west coast servers if the game gets more players.

If Blockland gained 100k players then that's a totally different situation to where we are now and obviously we'd reconsider, but arguing based on hypotheticals is pointless and I'm not interested in doing that.

Your question was answered - lets leave it there.

How does it tell?

In addition to this I've deployed an additional security change to prevent the replacement of dlls and the main Blockland executable with malicious executables or dlls. The server won't start if it's using an unrecognised dll or exe.

To people trying to answer service questions in this thread - we appreciate you're trying to be helpful but Rub and I are entirely capable and you're just causing confusion with contradicting statements.

"hurr US is the only place in the world"

"hurr US is the only place in the world"

have u ever asked someone where they're from?

Bro, there are people who play Blockland from England geez.

We've got a pretty good idea of population densities based on GeoIP brown townysis of the RTB user base, hence why we picked servers on the US East Coast, not central. Based on the data the most sensible location we'd cover next is West Coast.

on the topic of west coast servers, 75% of people in the US have 8 Mb/s or more, which is good enough for about a 30-60ms ping what is your internet speed pandan?

Oh loving please. Obviously not. It was a loving example i made up.

Except latency has nothing to do with internet speed...
