Author Topic: RTB Dedicated Hosting Service - Service Closing  (Read 361296 times)

It's an ajax post request to a non-ssl page causing it. I didn't expect browsers to freak out over that so I'll have to switch those to serve via ssl too.

Sometimes the chat window will forget to go to the next line and end up getting caught on a line, kind of weird.

Nevermind, I filed a ticket.

and okay

So Ephi dropped by, asked what the deal was and I filled him in. I guess he left? Webchat doesn't have a listing of webchat clients for some reason. Is that it?

not too big on people filing exploit reports I guess? am I missing something? is it not standard in the industry to supply a bounty/compensation of some kind for this kind of thing?

streaming webchat just went down, I think ephi is busy fixing what i reported

In order to use the server chat feature you will now need to shut down and start your server back up again. This was to fix a potential security issue mentioned above.

A lot of lag on NY-05.

I've been on an ny05 server for most of the day and had a steady 60ms ping. Are you sure it's not your server?

In addition to the change mentioned above to fix a security loophole, I'll be deploying some changes to the server settings page which will allow users to modify the server limits and quotas for vehicles/bots/emitters/schedules and such.

This is another one of those hotly requested improvements which we'll be glad to finally deliver to users since the current alternative method of changing these values is a bit of a pain in the ass right now. I'll make a more detailed post tomorrow both about the server settings change and also about a few other security features we're going to be deploying alongside this improvement.

Finally, anyone having issues with any of the upload functionality in IE or Firefox will be glad to hear we should have a solution to those issues soon. There's some fiddling to be done with our individual nodes to get them serving content over SSL properly but once that's sorted it should prevent the issues you've been having. I'll be posting more on that once I have an update.

Thanks for an absolutely fantastic service.

Pretty sure you're trying to be sarcastic here, but I don't see a recent ticket so I'll just assume you're praising - cheers.

Huh? No, I wasn't being sarcastic, haha. We closed the server at the end.

Oh hahaha, apologies, genuinely looked like a crash and sarcasm! Glad you're enjoying the service.

Service Update

I've just deployed the changes mentioned earlier which allows you to change your server limits and vehicle/bot quotas via the Server Settings tab of the management panel. Please note you will need to shut down and start up your server in order to make use of this new functionality - a reboot won't be sufficient.

In addition to this I've deployed an additional security change to prevent the replacement of dlls and the main Blockland executable with malicious executables or dlls. The server won't start if it's using an unrecognised dll or exe.

As always, please let me know either here or in a ticket if you experience any issues relating to this update. Thanks!

woo, finally!

I've made a demo server available to all registered users:

https://hosting.returntoblockland.com/hosting/bl-demo-01/dashboard

Just make sure you're logged in and access should be available to you for this demo server. A lot of the functionality is limited in some manner (e.g. you can't upload or delete music and add-ons) and console access/admin commands are disabled so people don't go too crazy.

You can also join the server to play on (at your own risk) - it'll be in the server list as "RTB Hosting's Demo Server."

I'm certain I've forgotten to limit a few things so please let me know if you spot anything and try not to screw around with it too much.

haha, had a good laugh.

I see this service is doing well. Is the demo panel all the features or just some?
