Pros: This would craft a server-base community and help make things more efficient.

I registered just now.
Definitely make it register only.
That way only the people who have taken the time to review what the game is about and are part of the active community will be able to join.

you'd be able to join, just when you spawn you'd die and it will prompt you telling you to register to play but for now you can watch gameplay.
