Author Topic: Maps ever going to be added back?  (Read 2931 times)

i don't recall many glitches? could you name a few?
yeah, why are people saying there was a bunch of glitches?

they worked pretty darn good

Up until you fell through them!
i've never randomly fallen through a terrain map. the only time i've fallen through one was by using means that could be used on bricks as well. this is an error with badspots stuffty physics, not with strictly terrain.

the only map glitch i can remember is when you go really far on slate maps and fall through the ground

That wasn't a glitch
Slate was a big finite rectangular prism
So of course you would fall off

NO! They make don't work properly with shaders.

he slate maps are pretty glitchy themselves as well.
There were numerous times when I spawned a plane, it would glitch through the ground. Still does also...

Nope
Nope
Well, i'm thinking that they will be re-added in V22 with shaders.

there won't be a v22. we got rid of the v## system and replaced it with r####

no, it has been stated numerous time that maps are not coming back.
get over it

good bump dude!

can you give quotes where the developers said this?

there is a possibility that terrain will be reimplemented more efficiently than before. neither badspot nor kompressor has confirmed that terrain and interiors will never be reimplemented.

Let's think of Torque Engine as a kind of hypothetical see-saw (teeter-totter). Shaders went up and were introduced. Terrains went down and were removed. Now lets says the maps got re-implemented, or they went up. This would mean that the shaders would have to go down therefore they would be removed. If we wanted them to run together then we would have to make a new engine (see-saw) that can equally balance maps and shadows out.

I don't think you know what you're talking about.
