nope, and usually any Skylake processor works in a LGA 115X board

although I highly recommend you get an AMD Athlon X4 860k w/ a GTX 960. A little bit more pricey and won't be on a LGA 115X board (for the best, those boards can get pricey) but with about 3 case fans you wouldn't need an aftermarket cooler and could use the stock one (the CPU doesn't need an aftermarket to begin with). This was my first setup (it's sitting next to me as I type this) and is one hell of a powerhouse for something so cheap, hiiiiiighly recommend you look into these specs. I've had it for about 6 months now and I was able to play ARMA, Witcher 3, MGSV, etc. all on medium to high specs, played all through Witcher at medium/high settings with about 40-50 FPS.

I'll switch my Motherboard to an 1151 and check the compatibility of the stuff on my list to make sure things will work. I'm trying to make this as budget as posssible (and non-amd due to me not being a fan what so ever) but I'll still consider what you said

Alright I added in the new things and re-calculated the price and here it is. Does anyone have any more suggestions? (If you want to suggest a part, be sure that it either lowers the cost / if it adds onto the cost, make sure it isn't any more than 10 bucks)

I'd stay away from the FX series because of their weakness compared to Skylake, but in a low budget build the X4 860k with a 960 SC is a great match.

if you want to upgrade to a better processor later then you're going to have to buy a new motherboard anyways so may as well go with the lga1151 socket now with a lower-end skylake processor

As far as I see they are for gaming. Video editing is going to go p stuff on this.
But you probably want atleast a 80+ bronze PSU (Power supply) and one thats modular because cable management. It doesnt improve peformance nor does it affect heat but its just allot less messy.

So I'm wanting to get a 1070, but that would require me to upgrade from my fx-6300. Should I:
A. Upgrade to a fx-8000 series CPU, allowing me to keep my current motherboard.
B. Upgrade to an intel cpu that can handle a 1070.
C. Wait for the zen cpus and upgrade to one of those.

I would like to switch to intel, but if I could get the same performance by upgrading to an 8000 series card then it might save me some money. I need something that won't bottleneck a 1070.

Hey, my friend is looking for a prebuilt PC for him and his family to use. Here are the criteria he wants:

-£500-£600
-Able to run games like Skyrim at possibly medium or so settings?
-The case to look normal, so no lights or "edgy" designs.

My case is a 1995 Compaq Full Tower. My old PSU blew and took the motherboard with it. Salvaged it, cleaned it up, and shoved my current specs in there. The GTX 980 Ti barely fits. There's like a 5mm space between the card and the cover. Putting the extra power cables the card needs was a loving pain in the ass.
