soon enough

If you're getting Ryzen, please, for the love of God, get a 3200+ MHz DDR4 ram kit. The Infinity Fabric Interconnect runs at memory speeds, so if you don't have the fastest ram you can get for Ryzen then you're just wasting it's potential :/
Also, the streaming/encoding on the fly capabilities of Ryzen are compelling..

If ryzen 3 comes out before this summer (aka after may) then I'll def go wit it, depending on performance to cost ofc

I actually wonder if in ryzen 3 they'll use tri cores again

This good for a homemade NAS?
My dad is thinking of getting one since all of his hard drives are full and buying a prebuild NAS is like 200-600 euros in the shops and dont even include the drives or only have space for 1 drive

What OS are you gonna run? You doing encoding on it or just storage?

Nope, that CPU won't work with that motherboard.
As in, it won't POST until you update the BIOS and you can't update the BIOS without a CPU that works without an update.

Hey compubrothers, here are my stats after I got my new PC!!!

Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU  Q8300  @2.50 GHz  2.50 GHz
Installed Memory (RAM): 6.00 GB
System Type: 64-bit Operating System

And the case is p good and sleek. A Dell default. The monitor is quite hot as well, one monitor at 1600 x 900. I don't think I can make my build any better my compubros

Windows I guess
Just storage
movies and stuff

If you're building a NAS I would really recommend getting a NAS OS.  unRaid has been the most appealing one I've seen so far since it's easily expandable and allows for different sized drives.  Though with unRaid or any NAS OS atleast one of your drives will be used for parity so that's a bit of pain.

There's a lot of ways to go about handling how the stuff on the NAS is handled as well.   Do you want to just access the files or do you want them streamed using something like PLEX.

I would suggest more RAM as well, especially if you wanna expand it to be a couple TB.

imho i dont trust unraid but they sell a good product so theres that for them
personally i'd spend the time setting up an arch install just so i can get everything just right and not need maintenance (other then pacman -Syuu) every so often but whatever floats ur boat

Ye streaming too but we have some media box thing connected to the tv that automatically does it when your
Your pc is connected to the network
Also I doubt you need more ram for just reading and writing files

change mobo to a b250 which actually supports kaby lake out of the box

Y tho?
Its nas
You need batstuff processing power
Actually most movies are at a stupidly high bitrate so iduno

if you want to use an h110 board you need to buy a skylake chip to flash the bios before it will support kaby lake. If you don't fo this, the cpu will not post. Its cheaper to go b250 than to buy a seperate cpu

Do yo research
