hi my mom has a laptop hard drive she wants formatted so she can sell it
can i just hook it up to my mobo with a sata cable and format it from a desktop

I'm fine with anything that isn't super huge. My current PC is a bigass beast of a computer. Beast as in its big.
Thing has to weight atleast 70-80 pounds

Are there any parts that you would like to recycle? For example, Hard Drive?

Probably, unless laptops hard drives don't use normal cables. I haven't ever bothered to look.

looking at upgrading from my HD 5850, would this be a good card for high end gaming?
Indeed, it would be.
Ensure you have the proper connectors and enough power to sustain that card in your system if you were to purchase it, though.

Modern laptop HDD's do use standard SATA plugs. I'm using one in a desktop at home.

my motherboard has PCI-E 2.0 x16, would I need to upgrade it to have 3.0?

Not really the most tech savvy when it comes to hardware

Is it possible to save a file in 2 places at the same time? Say I want to save folder "Derp" into folder A but also folder B in a different location but I only want to press save once and not have to save twice but look through all the files and folders to find both copies each time.

PCI-E 3.0 is backwards compatible with 2.0, the only difference is that 3.0 has more memory bandwidth than 2.0 or something like that

For looks, What is your favorite laptop?
Idk why but I love thinkpads lol. Even better than alienwares etc and I'm 14 you would think I would like the flashy illuminated alienwares. I also like the feel of the thinkpads over all by far.

But what is your favorite laptop for how it looks and feels?

To me, almost all laptops basically look the same :/
