Because the license key is apparently locked to hardware. So if I ever wanted to upgrade my motherboard or install it on to a different computer I wouldn't be able to. Also if I ever needed technical support I wouldn't be able to do it with oem editons.
Yes, technically. But it still hardly stops people, I've reinstalled windows on my ever-changing machine many times.

not for me
my win7 was OEM and I still use the same one that I first got with my first computer.

How have you done it then? Also is discountmountainsoftware a trusted seller, since they're selling windows 7 ultimate full version for $250.

I booted with the disk and installed it.

All I'm saying is that despite the license being hardware-locked, there is really little to no enforcement for it. They're only going to get mad if you start using it for multiple computers.

Why do you want ultimate?

Like honestly?

Do you really want to pay that much for a black CD case and bitlocker, which you can use without ultimate?

you can use OEM on more than one motherboard if you call microsoft for manual activation. but don't tell them you're doing it cause you're not supposed to. but if they ask just tell them oops I didn't know, the store I bought it from just gave me the disk with the computer

probably because I want ultimate..? also the 35 languages thing seems useful since I'm learning Japanese & Spanish soon.

Except windows 8 doesn't have aero, (1)plus I just want to be able to say I have windows 7.

(2)Also I want to collect operating systems so why not?
1) Are you loving stupid? "HEY GUYS I JUST BOUGHT WIN7 ULTIMATE FOR LIKE, $300 SO I CAN TELL YOU I BOUGHT WIN7!!!!".

2) How about you start collecting stupidity instead? You seem to have a ton of that laying around.

Not my fault you're such a loving starfish. How the did you get that I just want to be able to say I own windows 7 if there is like a 'post what operating system you use thread". And probably tell my family every once in a while about it.

you do too, mr 100 keys.

Now why don't you stop being an starfish and tell me if discountmountainsoftware is a trusted seller?

if you're collecting I don't even see how that's a problem in the slightest unless it's financial. You could probably just get it for your collection, and use it if you prefer I suppose.

Thats what I want to do but retailers like amazon are selling it at insane prices. Like a couple of people on amazon were selling it for 400 bucks. I could've sword that it used to be sold for 320 dollars when it was still being sold in stores.

I took a look around for discountmountainsoftware, they were used for piracy by Adobe at one point, and someone said there were some fake positive reviews of them floating around on some websites.

On that link, second paragraph.

So pretty much you want useless $400 bragging rights, that is loving stupidity right there. And tell your family about it once and awhile? What? Like your family gives two motherforgets you have Win7 Ultimate? Why don't you also go to your parents and brag about your insane levels of autism.
