I idle around 60 degrees without using speedfan, with speedfan cranked way up I get around 40.
1.8ghz A8.

You're confusing me here - since when is this cheap? it's $65 on it's own, and it's a good, direct-contact heatsink. I don't know where you're getting "every company" 's information from but this is a pretty decent heatsink.

This is "nothing special".

It's a single tower heatsink, there are tons of them made by almost every company that makes heatsinks that are exactly the same. Of course they're better than stock cpu coolers but there is nothing unique about them.

Currently selling my Dell Inspiron 620 for $800 to a huge sucker willing customer on craigslist. I also have ~$240 laying around, so $1024 budget for a much better computer and monitors. Thoughts on this?

why not get a newer CPU?

Such as?

for $270 there's not much for a better CPU than a 2500K, but I'm open to suggestions

Any reason for going below budget?

Nope.

My CPU and GPU have not gotten over 50 degrees while under pressure.

GPU works at 33 degrees when its barely doing anything, and reaches about 49 when its maxed out.

CPU seems to be working at 38 - 47 degrees so far.

Uses a 140mm fan at the back to suck air out. A BitFenix Spectre Pro 230mm fan at the front. GPU has Asus-packaged DirectCU fan / casing, its a HD 7770 GHz. CPU is an i5 3570 (non k) and uses stock cooler.

Asus P8Z77-I deluxe mini-itx motherboard runs at 29-33 degrees.

As far as my room temperature goes, its been between 26 - 30 degrees here.

Point is, don't buy any major cooling unless you really need it.

Due to flooding and rain my internet connection has been down for a day :c

But i've managed to keep myself entertained without it, playing offline games and stuff, something that my old computer couldn't manage to do without me getting bored due to the game running at low fps.

Post what you think is the best all around processor cooler. Find the nicest looking, best performing, and quietest CPU cooler, and post it here - 10 of them will be added to a poll on the OP by February 10th, and whichever one wins the highest vote, that user will get a surprise reward!

Freezer 13 Limited Edition
I have this, it makes like 0 noise since no modern CPU will take all of it's 200W cooling power means it can always run on low level
Also looks scary with this shape :c

Argghhh... Noctua NH-D14 is obviously the best (cause I got it :D)

But my entry is the trustworthy Corsair Hydro H100i.

Not necessarily the most quiet cooler out there (due to radiator noise), but it will keep your CPU ice-cool!
And it is easier to fit in small cases than the Noctua.

What are you using to tell your temps?

AI Suite II, provided by Asus with the motherboard, and Asus GPU Monitor, provided with the GPU.

Just played Hitman: Absolution and the GPU went up to 55-59 degrees, I guess I still don't have a good enough idea yet.

Using the stock cooler right now as well. I have a Corsair H100 that currently is in a swamp in California, and about to be thrown in the trash because the pump failed. Once Asetek- I mean, Corsair, sends me a new one, I'll check out the new temperatures that will actually be half-decent.

The stock cooler keeps the PC idle at about 35C stock (Asus P8Z77M-PRO, i5 2500K) and on full usage it's about 60C. It's not that great of a cooler but it works.

Is 40C a bad temp for gaming?
