Alright, so my grandpa is giving me his custom built computer from 08; and I plan on upgrading the Mobo, CPU, RAM. and the video card. I know that you guys are better with this kind of stuff than me and I'd like to know if everything here works out, or if you had any suggestions on different hardware.

gtx 660ti
mother board
3570k i5
ram

Also, Im pretty sure this mother board wouldn't support a moder gpu/video card right?

That doesn't support newer processors, only the old core series.

So basically you're building a whole new computer, just using the case and hdd? Is it an IDE hdd or a SATA, if it's IDE don't use it. I also doubt it has more than 300 or so gigs.

Does nVidia still release cards every five to six months? When was the last time they released a card? Where can I get the info about the card being released next month that Mr.jacksaunt was talking about?

Pretty much, but the Hard Drive is from 2011.

Its not going to be released for a while. Mr.Jacksaunt has no idea what he's talking about.

I had heard from a bunch of sites that they were going to be released, sorry about that. I'm not sure about amd's plans either so I guess I can't say to wait.

So what details do you compare between a CPU and GPU to make sure it won't bottleneck? I might as well go ahead and get a 660 or 670 later this year.

You have a i5 2660k right? If you do, it shouldn't be bottlenecked if you get something like a 660ti.

There's an i7-2660K, but no i5. I have an i5-2310.

This list shows what people bought their i5-2310 with. Would this be a good list to pick a GPU from, and have a chance of not bottlenecking?

Hell, the 660Ti is on there. I might as well go ahead and get that some time.

When I end up upgrading my processor, should I get the i5 3570K or the i7 3770K. Is the i7 really worth the $90?

That depends. How much do you value 4.5 blockland keys?

EVGA GTX 660 Ti requires a minimum of a 450-Watt power supply. The Intel i5-2310's Thermal Design Power is 95W (which I assume is 95-watts). That's 545 watts, I only have a 500 Watt PSU. Should I consider getting a better PSU?

I would usually go with a 700W. But I would ask more experienced members. But most of them I think would say the same, 700. Here's a really nice one that a lot of people around here use. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139010
