I was going to recover data I lost on my new MicroSD card, put it into a USB adapter and plugged it in. After a second, I heard a loud clunk from inside my computer. I was sure the new drive just murdered itself. While I kept saying to myself it was a bad idea, I went to the drive and checked if I could open it. I could get into the top layer. The window closed itself, I reopened it, and I can explore all the folders still. In fact, it isn't making that fan hum it was before that I could hear. I know perfectly well "It clunked and now it works" doesn't mean it's good and is likely really bad, but I'm still surprised it made such a horrible sudden noise and physically seems to be running better for the moment. But now I do hear an odd ZZZ noise... it's probably melting itself or something... Not constantly, but sometimes when I try to go through files... Maybe that part is paranoia.
Edit: Apparently my computer cached the folders, so even though I was checking the drive, it wasn't running. It started up, but the wum still... less intense. I feel it, but it isn't like in my face. I have to pay attention to tell.
