I know we had a discussion/contest about this a hundred pages ago, but I forgot who the winner was to which cpu cooler is the best.

I want to OC my 3570k to an even 4.5ghz, what's the best choice for a moderate amount of money?
hyper 212

How much could I sell my mother board + CPU together on something like ebay or some other site? It is an ASRock 880GM-LE motherboard (Two DDR3 slots) with an AMD Phenom II X4 970 (3.5 GHz Quad Core).

sometimes i find that my temps are too high. i'm using the stock fans from my haf 912. how would i have them spin faster by default

Guys I'm getting this laptop as a graduation present. I plan to use this to make movies/videos, play games, and do schoolwork.

Is this a good choice, or should I get something else? My family can't really get something that's $900-$1000
so I'm really a budget gamer.

What do you guys think?

It looks okay. I found this one. It has 2gb more ram, a slightly better graphics card, but a worse cpu. It's $50 less though. I'd ask /r/suggestalaptop so you can find a clearly better one for the same price. I just skimmed their sidebar to find that one.

EDIT: I want to get some case fans, 140mm and 200mm, for my HAF 912. (standard) Suggestions/advice?

as far as price vs power. a lot of the top 600 series cards cost more yet are weaker. im just shoppin

a gtx 770 is just a rebranded gtx 680

pretty sure it's a re-branded 680

it's slightly cheaper aswell

goddamnit

How different preformance is there between ddr2 and ddr3
DDR3 is far better.

well a cheaper 680 equivalent is fine. but its also got the slight advantages of having 700 series drivers. though that wont matter for at least a year or so lol.

Tacky, never heard of brand, quality could be in question, and what do you even use that many buttons on?  Most of those buttons won't do anything but macros or just act as keyboard keys as most applications only support up to mouse5.
at least three other people have told me "the brand sounds weird".  yeah i've never heard of anker either until now but the reviews say it's pretty quality.  as far as buttons go i just rebind them to everyday uses, i.e. browser back/forward, next turn button, etc.

with my new keyboard and mouse together i may be looking into macros if i need to get that serious but for the time being i just like the customization features

the 770 is around 10-15% more capable than a 680.  i haven't looked at prices really but if it's cheaper than the top 600 series it's worth getting if you really want it.

not necessarily
Quote from: http://www.pcgamer.com/review/nvidia-geforce-gtx-770-review/
“We have learnt from bad examples in the past,” Nvidia said earlier this month. “So the obvious one is the 9800GTX+ to GTS 250 – none of these [700 series cards] are direct re-brands of what’s come before. We’ve gone to the pains of making sure we’ve got better clocks, better design as a whole, better cooling and GPU Boost 2.0.”

You have
1000k == 1000000 == 1,000,000 == 1, million, dollars.
So if you have
1 million dollars
to spend on your little computer.
then just buy a coreMC gen3.
it costs loving fifty-three thousandths of that.

though if that is just a typo and you meant 1,000, ill whip you a build up.

uh
which one.

I just did the black one, looked fine.
Do you need an optical drive/display?
Also, do you already have Windows 8?
I have the white one, no to the Display, yes to the optical drive and yes to the win8.
sorry for the late response
EDIT: Also, I will not be overclocking

It's worth noting that mouse 4 and 5 are default back/forward in pretty much every browser, so even intellimouse explorers (If you don't care about flashy stuff, that's a great mouse btw. pretty cheap too, also look into the MS Mouse 6000 as it looks like that's replacing the intellimouse explorer) support that.

Don't be buying a mouse for what you might do in the future, no sense wasting money on that.  My g500 that recently died had a mouse6 button that could only really do macros and forwarded keys, I never ended up using it, same with the 5 macro keys on my keyboard, no matter how much I tried to think of a use for them.  Chances are if you can't think of a use right now, you will never find a use for them.

Updated title to match Megathread series, also updated poll because I got tired of seeing the huge GPU images at the top of the page... and because lolragewars

rename it back to computer megathread
