rename it back to computer megathread
why personal computer

Because personal computers are what we are all discussing

"computer" is ambiguous, there are like 8 different types (including smartphones, PDAs, tablets, etc) so I separated them into threads that relate to them

It's worth noting that mouse 4 and 5 are default back/forward in pretty much every browser, so even intellimouse explorers (If you don't care about flashy stuff, that's a great mouse btw. pretty cheap too, also look into the MS Mouse 6000 as it looks like that's replacing the intellimouse explorer) support that.

Don't be buying a mouse for what you might do in the future, no sense wasting money on that.  My g500 that recently died had a mouse6 button that could only really do macros and forwarded keys, I never ended up using it, same with the 5 macro keys on my keyboard, no matter how much I tried to think of a use for them.  Chances are if you can't think of a use right now, you will never find a use for them.
i can think of uses for them currently tbh.

that's also why i already ordered it lelelelelele

I'm staying in this thread. I like you guys

How different preformance is there between ddr2 and ddr3
anyone

anyone

yes

ddr2 speed: 400-800MHz
ddr3 speed: 800MHz-1,600+MHz

youd probably end up bottlenecking if you made something running with ddr2

I know that but, whats the difference between the two like how would it make a difference?

your RAM would be faster, the rate at which data would move in and out of it i mean

Can I get some more opinions on the Alienware X51?

overpriced like forget

your cpu would be waiting for the ram to catch up all the time most likely

Only $700?
the $700 is lackluster for its price.  the $1000 model with the core i7 and gtx 660 is a good deal but with dell computers i strongly recommend getting extra warranty because those things are basically planned to break down.  or hell take your money and go with another prebuilt manufacturer.  i'd say the $1000 model for the X51 is a good buy but seriously i just don't trust them anyways.

does anyone here have any experience with arch linux

or hell take your money and go with another prebuilt manufacturer.

for example(s)?
