I have a budget of like $400-$450 and I need a computer. Needs to include the OS, so keep that in mind when suggesting a custom build.

For $500, should he really expect 8gb of ram? take some out of the cpu/gpu/ram to get him win7. he's not going to be using the gpu if he doesn't have win7, linux isnt compatible with anything.

So my dad and I ordered a bunch of parts for a PC build and we went with an HD 7970. I contemplated getting dual Nvidia 760's, but I realized some games aren't optimized for SLI or Crossfire, so I'd rather just get one high end card that will work with everything. At at a cheaper price too. The 7970 still kills the 770 so it's coo. Nabbed an i5-3570k CPU and some DDR3 2133 G.SKILL RAM.

Hey, I'd like to try and stress test the forget out of my cpu (it's a laptop).
Would it be safe to put it in a fridge or freezer or even a cooler and try stress testing at a huge overclock in there?

Good point I thought he meant for games

Pretty sure it's not.
I wouldn't try it. I mean it's the whole laptop in there, not just the CPU, it can get damaged.

Is there a way for me to set my GTX 670 4GB FTW+ to run at a certain clock speed for one game? (battlefield 3) My Battlefeild 3 crashes my computer sometimes and people say if you set your clock speeds to 850MHz it wont do it. Help?

Why does it crash? Is your PSU supplying enough power to it?

Yea. They say it's something with Battlefiled 3 I have run my GTX 670 maxed out at 1215MHz with other games for extended periods just fine. 700W PSU.

Maybe downclock it over all? I never heard of an option to just downclock for a certain game.

DDR5 ram is out? I thought DDR4 was still in the works

also a question
my cousin has a prebuilt HP computer and windows needs to be reinstalled
on the side of the case it has the key but I need the disc to install windows but I don't have a vista install disc.

watdo?

DDR5 ram is out? I thought DDR4 was still in the works

DDR5 is for GPU memory, GDDR5.

"and some DDR5 2133 G.SKILL RAM."
I knew gddr5 was out, has been for a while I thought he was talking about system ram

I don't know how to downclock my GPU, pretty new to NVIDIA Drivers.

Probably a typo.
