thing is i dont want overkill. i usually get 1 super card that generally beats out the average 3 people tend to be cheap and slowely add on with.

but for the sake of ports i kinda need 3 i guess.
so what 3 nvidia cards are equal to a single 780?
and have perhaps 2g each and all 3 roughly add up to the price and power of a 780.

im only asking because im mobile right now and dont wanna be muti tabbing google hunting till im home lol.

You get one card, and use adapters.  That's the sensible solution.

But if you insist on multiple cards, only get two, just finding a mobo under $300 that supports 3 PCI x16 slots is insanely hard.

You get one card, and use adapters.  That's the sensible solution.

splitters only clone one desktop, they dont expand.

and i insist on using all hdmi. i dont want mixed cord types.

but you can't have adapters that splits the screen like bisjac wants.
and since i never saw a card with 2 or more hdmi ports on it, he has to get 3 different cards.

and besides, wouldn't two monitors on the same port bottleneck?

HDMI, DisplayPort, DVI, DVI

Get an HDMI cord and two DVI -> HDMI cords

then you're using all HDMI outputs, but not wasting money on an entire extra graphical card.

When I got rid of my VGA to DVI and upgraded it to just a DVI, it looked so much better.

yes, dvi and hdmi have the same quality, the only difference is that hdmi also transports audio through the cable.
