Lol, a 1TB SSD is ~$500.

Imagine the price for something 100x that.
$50000?

but with technology to make it better and smaller i doubt its going to cost that much

Well...

I was just about to say that.

The price of a a 1GB hard drive was expensive as hell when they were the best thing you could get. Then there was a point where it was pretty much $1 per GB. I think the best then was like 100GB though.

I think if it were introduced soon (like within a few months) it'd be probably $10000+(maybe a tad much, but it'd really be strictly for people who need it, probably businesses), if we gradually got there I think it'd be around what SSDs go for now.

but its hdd they are talking about right?

why would that be bad
because people will be 100 times less conscious on filling up their drives

but its hdd they are talking about right?
Yea. I don't know why you guys are talking about SSDs with relation to that article, it's talking about 3D optimization for physical magnetic platters and not flash memory

Imagine a 100+ TB SSD
The horror, the horror

?

It's what started this discussion.

So, I finally got around to taking inside pictures of my rig to show how it looks on the inside. The lighting however is because my phone doesn't have a flash and we only have one light in this portion of the home.

My one HDD disk, I have room for 7 more

Graphics card and PSU

The blue lines are my ram, they have metal head spreaders on them.

Quick question about where to put my case's temperature sensor (for the digital readout on the front of the case), it's just a wire with a probe on the end. I previously had it in my CPU cooler's heatsink, and it reads at most 40 deg. C when gaming. Now that I've ordered this Corsair H55 CPU Cooler (on its way), I don't know where to place it. Would putting it on the backing plate of the motherboard be useful at all? What about somewhere on the radiator itself? Does the pump itself get just as hot?

I have that same PSU and I love it, what GPU did you end up going for?

and for the record, you don't have to say "HDD disk", it's implied in the name "HDD" (Hard Disk Drive)

My GPU is a MSI Radeon HD 7790. And the PSU is pretty awesome, I love how its modular.

I would take a picture of my rig, but I feel like you'd all make fun of my cable management. :cookieMonster:
My PSU isn't modular. :(

This, and also I have no good camera. Just a piece of crap iPod 4th Gen.

Oh please
Mines probably worse

Exactly. And for all we know 3D optimization could be much faster than our current 2D platers.

my rosewill challenger case has almost no room in the back so cable management is horrible :'(
ill take pictures once I get home
