so since I'll be using this for my computer, figured this would be the place to ask ...

could anyone recommend me a good TV to use as a monitor? yes I need a TV and not a monitor.

-needs to be at least 38 inches, but no larger than 42
-no more expensive than $400
-needs to have either HDMI or VGA input
-has to be at least 60hz 1080p

my current TV is 32 inch but only goes to 720p. and with an overclocked gtx 580 that is just silly. I want to put my current TV on top (literally) of a new TV (current TV would be mounted on the wall) so I can play games on the bottom one and surf the interwebz on the top one.

note: I do not want to put them side by side to do multi monitor gaming so having 2 of the same TV isn't an issue for me

This is something that really the best thing to do is go online look for things that match your requirements and then choose the one that have the best ratings. That is exactly what I did and it took a few minutes

LG 42" LED-LCD 1080p 60hz

Thanks for all the help with the computer guys. I'll let you know how it goes when I get to building it.

what is your final setup you have decided on

Got a new heatsink and fans for my PC.

These are pretty good idle temps. It's a bit chilly in my room, though.
I'll take a screenshot of my temps after some intense gaming some day.

That
just a few suggestions -
CPU - great
MOBO - MSI isn't considered among the best in the Intel field. I'd recommend Gigabyte or Asus (asrock) instead, they are generally higher-quality. plus that plastic dragon on the msi one looks like some ugly stuffty trinket designed to get drooling middle-schoolers attracted to it
FAN - great
RAM - you could probably cut down on this. i would recommend getting 8 gb first (2x4gb) as 16gb is kind of a overkill and you won't be needing that much for gaming, only for high-res video editing pretty much. you could always upgrade later easily. spend the extra money toward a better video card (see below) or a better mobo (see above)
HDD - great
GPU - although this is a pretty good pick, if you really want to get extremely great performance for around 400 wait until the R9 290 non-x version gets released. its pretty much the $550 290x (which beats the $500 gtx 780 always AND the $1000 TITAN in some cases) but just slightly downgraded (barely noticeable performance change, maybe like 5 FPS at max difference), all for a nice pricetag of $400
PSU - jesus forget //.,, you could definitely cut down on this. unless you are planning to get a 2nd video card in the future, a 650w bronze should be enough
SSD - pretty good, but I would suggest a samsung 820 evo 250gb instead - better-known brand, better speeds, 10gb more space for 20 bucks less

not sure why people are saying 290x beats the 780/titan when for the most part it .. doesn't ..

in AMD optimized games .. with mantle .. at 4k ... maybe

780ti is going to stuff all over it anyway

i don't know where you are getting your facts from but the r9 290x, at nearly half the price, pretty much always beats the titan. forget about 780

sorry for chinese, can find english one too if you want so much

Insert wall of text here
My current computer holds 16 gigs currently, so I'd rather stick with that.
That card sounds good but is it compatible with intel? I'd rather not go through a bunch of items again to find compatibility..
I'm keeping the psu as is incase of future upgrades
Thanks for the ssd suggestion, replaced my other one.

Hows this for a MOBO? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131980

^would recommend this, that asus one looks gross af
and really, you dont need 16gb for gaming, even 8 is more than enough youll ever need if you just play games
if you know youll get a 2nd card in the future, then yeah I guess 860w is good
@compatability part, just lol. all video cards work with all modern mobos, dont worry

and no, thats not the exact card. Thats the 290x, which is priced at 550. I was talking about the 290 non x, which will be at 400

I think I'm going to get a 780 TI when I get the money, it claims to be the best graphics card out right now.
