I use a mac, but I'm looking for a good computer that is very cheap. What is the cheapest I could go that could run some good games on at least low setting?

define "some good games"
I'm talking about games like Counter Strike: Global Offensive, S.T.A.L.K.E.R, and maybe Metro.

Will updating from Windows 7 Home Premium to Windows 8 Pro uninstall all my apps?

hah, I have a computer that was 500 and it runs tomb raider at medium to high settings.

Candy, you could probably spend around 400-550 and get a gaming pc that runs games at max, maybe not next-gen graphics, but yeah, games like cs:go, no prob.

posted here about comp cooling. moved my gfx card one slot up from my psu, blew out the computer with my compressor and re-ordered the fans to get a good flow going; hasn't bsod'd since

No. In the odd case specific applications don't work anymore, uninstall them.

Correct. If the migration process goes swimmingly, all of your files, settings, and applications will be maintained.

learn how to search properly, my whole page is filled with questions and answers

My brother wants a PC for a grand so this is what I came up with: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2dKbS

Does it come with a sound card? And is there anything I could cut back on? Is the AMD RX series better then the 760? Are the brands good? Is the case good?

Would the case be able to fit two 760s in it and will the PSU and MoBo support two 760s?

you cannot overclock on that motherboard. either get a Z87 mobo or get the cheaper, locked version of the cpu.
and I still feel queezy about the ssd
