Don't spend $110 on a case
There's plenty of good ones around $60
looks are important. I guess I could find a better one for cheaper.  Anytning else?

if you're trying to save money they aren't..

If you want to save money then you're going to have to sacrifice looks, unless you want I sacrifice performance

Here's a good case that looks good and is $50

I haven't the faintest idea why you would consider buying a 660 when you can find a 760 (which is a lot faster...) for the same exact price. But instead of those, you should get a 280 because it's even faster for less money than both of them. If you want to spend more than $200, the 280X is also a very good value for your money

You can get a 1TB blue drive for $5 more, so there's no reason why you wouldn't do that. And since most z97 motherboards are around $100 as well, you should get one of them so if you want to overclock in the future, you have the option. Don't get an 8320 unless you're 100% sure that you need 8 cores. This processor will do poorly in games because it can perform fewer IPC compared to any current gen intel cpu. Get an i3-4130 or an i5-4590 so you at least have an upgrade path in the future

Yeah guys remember it's not all about cores and clock speed lol, it's a lot more about the architecture mainly and I remember stuffty puns made a good post explaining it

The main concern here is whether it'll clear your RAM or not, as it fits your socket and it's very uncommon that these cooelrs hit chipset heatsinks. Since it seems like the heat spreaders on your RAM isn't taller than the boards themselves most coolers should fit without issue; if you're unsure, check the manufactuers website.

Speaking of coolers, I need some help with choosing one, too. I'm building a PC based around an i5 2500k and an MSI Z77A-GD55. I'm aiming to get to 4.5 GHz, or as high as I can go without exceeding 1.35V. I've been looking at the Hyper 212 EVO (300 SEK/$44), but I'm not sure if it's enough for that high of an OC. Would the Phanteks PH-TC12DX (450 SEK/$66 /w postage) be a better choice? I've also considered the Noctua NH-U12P SE2 (550 SEK/$81), but it doesn't seem to have any performance advantages, and it also lacks PWM fans. Are there any other coolers that I should check out? Case is an NZXT Source 220 (max cooler height 160mm).

You don't need to overthink it
Chip binning has a much higher margin of error than any potential cooling benefits you might have with an expensive air cooler over an EVO 212. And since it's sandy bridge, which historically OC's very well indeed, with minimal temperature strain, I think you'll be fine.

Yeah, I guess you're right. Most people online seems to be forced to step up the voltages to 1.4V to get beyond 4.5GHz, and that's something I'm not prepared to do. I should probably mention though that the fan in the EU version of the 212 is slower than the US version (1600 RPM vs 2000 RPM). Would that make a big difference in temps?
EDIT: I've found one example of a guy running a 2500k @ 4.7GHz @ 1.35V, and he hits >70°C on a H100. My chip might not be this good, but the last thing I want is being bottlenecked by my cooler setup.

AIO water coolers are actually not that great. The noctua would give you the same perf as an h100, but I still think you'll be fine with just the evo.

I cannot advise against ASRock motherboards enough. My 970 Extreme 3 R2.0 has a non-standard screw layout so I can't seat it properly in my case and half the SATA ports don't operate at anything even remotely close to SATA speeds, the other half cause my computer to completely freeze up for no reason even on a brand new HDD that I bought last week.

Granted, one faulty motherboard isn't enough by itself but I've heard a lot of other people saying that ASRock motherboards are known for being faulty, a lot of them end up DoA as well.
