My friend is having a problem with his computer, and he has a lot of viruses.
His sister fell on his laptop's screen and broke it, so he's using a external monitor. And it's a Toshiba laptop so it comes with graphics drivers/has a recovery partition.
It uses windows 8, so I had an idea and I was over there and I did a refresh/reset it to factory defaults and selected the "wipe drive" option, because there is a recovery partition.
So it switched to the broken screen and the monitor went black because im assuming its in the "8% done" type of screen. He has stuffloads of viruses and I tried running mbam but for some reason some system files are forgeted up as well (like the font is forgeted up and themes are all messed up with some other functions) so I decided to reset it.
The thing is he relies on that external monitor to see whats on his screen, when its done and its asking for the user account info will it switch to the other monitor? He relies on it because if he doesnt have it he cant use his computer. Or if it doesn't work is there a keystroke to switch the monitor? or will it switch to it automatically?
I need help because its either his computer is forgeted and its my fault or the second monitor works

Use Windows key plus P to change your display settings without the need to see the screen, duplicate is the second option on the list

are you able to do that while in the setup dialogue? like where it asks you what color you want to pick?

That you would have to test, I have not tested that because I don't encounter many people with forgeted up displays on their computers

alright but wouldn't the display be detected as soon as it gets to that dialogue?

Generally yes

i can't decide if i should get the samsung 850 pro or not, to use as either a main drive or to put my os on. the endurance on that thing looks amazing along with its speed. also this is my first time even looking at ssds so if you have better ideas then please say

I would think if you have the means and money for one, do it, but I've gotta say that my 250GB Samsung 840 Evo that I got for $100 was definitely worth it.

Also, if money is plentiful, go for a PCIe SSD. Those things are beastly. :)

Absolutely.

I'm skeptical on buying one. Mostly because half of /g/ makes fun of you for owning one, the other half says they're great SSDs.

That's what I have, lol.

Motherboard or my RAM holding me back. :(

new power supply and ram.

Just got myself quite the case deal off craigslist

Completely modified to house a ATX or Micro ATX motherboard and ATX/Modular PSU and 240mm radiator at the bottom of the case, I will update with pics later once I clean the aluminum up and make it shine all nice and pretty
