Please help I just finished building a pc for my friend and everything is blue.

I've tried a different cable didn't work. Couldn't for some reason get the cables to work with a different monitor because they have different ratios and said to change it to 1600x900 60hrz but I don't know how to do that. Do I just need to install graphics drivers?
Wiggle the cord that plugs into the graphics card. I had this happen when my cable came loose from the GPU output

will a 750 ti bottleneck my pentium e6700?

Well I fixed the monitor problem. It was the cable. Now I have another problem: the computer turns on, says starting windows then goes black and the monitor says no connection. This was after installing drivers from online for the gpu (gtx 960). What is wrong?

Start in safe mode, redownload and reinstall the drivers.

So ready for Windows 10, tried loading an old tech preview .iso I had onto my old laptop, couldn't get it to update to the most recent build. Just gotta wait till the 29th I guess.

So reinstalling the drivers didn't work. So didn't older versions. I'm going to install all the windows updates before I try again. It works fine when no drivers are installed.

I jumped back in when it went into Consumer Preview, I am currently using the RTM,  the only thing I hate is the fact their shoving Round User Icons down everyone's throat whether they like it or not, and over a thousand people plus a uservoice page says to bring back the square user icons.

Hoping they come back in Redstone or another future update because lord does having that circle near my nice square tiles clash.

I am still having trouble installing drivers for a gtx 960. Every time I trying when I restart all I get is a black screen after the windows 7 logo appears. Now, before I try installing the drivers the card shows up as standard vga graphics adapter. I try disabling and uninstalling that but it always shows the card as that. Somehow one time I got it to show as gtx 960, but when. I tried updating the drivers of it through device manager it switched back to standard vga graphics adapter. I really need help because this is a computer I built for a friend.

Can anyone recommend me some sweet laptop ram?

First we need to know what laptop you've got or what it supports.

I have an inspiron 3542

Not very hardware savvy, might have to walk me through this

Download speccy, run it, look at RAM; does it say DDR2 or DDR3?

Edit; Looked it up, Your laptop supports ONE stick of DDR3 memory up to 1600MHz in capacities of 2GB, 4GB and 8GB. You will want to get a DDR3 SODIMM in that speed and one of those capacities

i'm thinking about upgrading my processor. i wonder if it would be better in the long run to get a lga 775 processor (since it's what my current motherboard supports), or just to get a new motherboard and processor. specs:

Get a new motherboard and processor. The slowest LGA 1150 processor is still miles faster than the fastest LGA 775 processor. You're due for an upgrade buddy.

Also it really bothers me you're running a 64bit OS on a system with only 3GB of RAM.
