Reddit is dumb, OCing does make for a pretty significant improvement. I'm not sure if Skylake is the way to go, though. Haswell is much cheaper and almost as fast, not to mention the prices of DDR4.

there's really very little performance increase. Swat 3, you're better off going with a 4690k and a 980.

Woo, the RAM I want is 47% off, that saves £26 :D

Here's a build I put together for Swat3: http://pcpartpicker.com/user/Chipskate/saved/qhDdnQ
Hope you like it

My response when somebody says you don't need more than 8GB of RAM

Which is funny, because media editing and server hosting are the ONLY reasons to have more than 8GB, at least atm.
I half expected a google chrome joke tbh, not that.

Ram is coming back down in price I was actually considering that kit over the last few days since the ram limits have essentially been removed by windows 8 & 10.

What's the difference between Windows 8 and 8.1?

8.1 has stuff to make it more like a desktop os and not a tablet os

Well my 560ti is pretty much dead (rip mighty warrior), and I'm looking at the 980ti. If I bought a 980ti, would that be bottlenecking with my i7-2600k?

No, your 2600k is more than powerful enough.

8.1 Added a start button and other stuff because people didn't know everything was hidden now.
(Like when you se the taskbar to auto hide)

Your better off upgrading to 10 but 8.1 is definitely better than 8.0.

Depends on how much multitasking you do.
