I'm looking for someone who isn't a richard. What's the issue here?
the issue is that you're wrongly assuming that i'm a richard based on one encounter with me
i'm only being an ass here because the answer to your question might as well have been taped to your forehead
you can keep calling me a richard in every post you make towards me here but it's not going to get you anywhere, mate
you can find professional help at places like /r/buildapc
Because the first part was totally uncalled for. You really had no reason to act so rude towards someone asking a question.
i heard you the first time

yeah you're totally a cool and chill guy, just like you said

well, the answer was loving obvious

Going to just move along, arguing with Das is like arguing with a politician. You don't get anywhere.

Anyway, the server. What are some key points to note?

If one were to want to make a server hosting rig for a game like Rust or Garry's Mod what should I look at?
you will want at least a graphics card and setup that can play rust, because i failed to host rust only on the fact that i didn't have graphics powerful enough

for garry's mod, graphics aren't required, but a beefy processor and at least 3gb of ram to spare for it is needed

Any recommended rigs? I prefer custom built but if theres good pre-builts that's cool too.

Why does this happen and how do I fix it?  The theme supports GTK2 and GTK3 btw.

I'm not really up to date on neither Linux nor emulators, so vear with me: https://pcpartpicker.com/user/Chipskate/saved/2D9MnQ
  • IIRC most emulators don't use more than 2 cores, thus high single-threaded performance is neccessary. Intel processors have the best single-threaded performance on the market, and the G3258 can be overclocked for an extra boost.
  • Linux doesn't use much RAM, so 4GB should be enough.
  • Sticking to integrated graphics since they should be enough unless you want to run lots of shaders/AA.
  • I'm not sure 100% sure on the storage, but an SSD should be large enough for even a few hundred PS1/PSP games and will improve responsiveness compared to an HDD.
  • Even though it's not neccessary I also chose a small, console-like case.
Thoughts?
