Wait why are they.... more expensive than a rx 480????

Crazy how time flies, I was just recalling the feeling of building my first PC in 2011 thinking it was some of the best hardware out at the time and now it's basically in the dust... I'm gonna be working a steady job during the school year and looking to make $100 a week. I'm going to be going to college the year after so I'm looking to upgrade/build a PC with some saved money around a budget of $1000 (not exceeding $1200, I want to buy other stuff too). What parts should I look to upgrade? Should I just try to sell my PC and build a completely new one when the time comes?

CPU: Intel i5-2500K
GPU: XFX HD 6870
RAM: 8GB
Mobo: GIGABYTE GA-Z68X-UD4-B3
HDD: HITACHI 500GB
PSU: Corsair 550W (need to upgrade this for sure lol)
Case: Antec 3000

All of this is 2011 era so I forgot specifics, but basically my system by today's standards is stuff. What should I plan on upgrading?

~$300 for case, PSU, SSD and better CPU cooler (if you're still using the stock one) + $250-300 for a GPU that I couldn't add because the availability is stuff right now, keep everything else.

):D
You could buy a PC for the price of that capable of running anything most things at decent fps :I

What game could you not run with a GTX 1070 at decent fps? (card that is most prevalent around that price range)

4k vr at max settings

when will it happen...

Well I just ordered an RX 470 to replace my GTX 960, hope it's good like the reviews have been saying. I realize they may get like the same performance but I already had fine performance in pretty much all the games I have. I just wanted the DX12 and Vulkan benefits.

sup bois

Just ordered this spicy boy
Can't wait for it. Apparently even with 1 fan it gets up to 60°C under heavy load. I would buy the two or even 3 fan card if I had enough space in my case.

bisjac has money to blow

would a 4 year old GTX 670 idling at ~55 C and hitting a max of 80 C under load be an issue? wondering if i should start replacing it like now or if it can wait until christmas

Nope

But its a high idle tough

I re-worked my budget build (mainly updating prices) and now, it has an i3 and only 8gb of ram, would this be fine?
