Author Topic: I think every brony should listen to this radio broadcast  (Read 15451 times)

why not watch an actual quality show that teachers you about friendship

the lord of the rings for example

and this topic gets 40 pages in a fortnight.

Anyway, I actually enjoyed listening to this broadcast. To me its kinda interesting to explore the darker side of fandoms...

But then again you should stop eventually otherwise you just get mental scarring

the interviewers are starfishs but it's still an enjoyable broadcast

I couldn't stop laughing with Howard on this broadcast clip.  It was really entertaining to hear the responses from fans... and really insightful.

I really hope that fans do seriously consider that this really is how the outside world views it.

The moral of the story is that if you are made into a female biologically at birth then you are still mentally a male. Therefor you didn't become male by society you where male when you where born and that's how you think.
But that's assuming loveuality is genetic.
He had problems from the start friend.
All I'm reading is that he had a snake and it could burned beyond repair. Quote plz.

That says nothing about loveuality. :I

then he's broken. that's actually a problem.
Humanity is imperfect at best, Daedalus. Of the people that I deal with in everyday life, far too many of them are jackasses. My point is that this particular show can succeed where other methods fail.
Spongebob Squarepants is an A-grade example of why you're wrong.
I did not say "always" now did I? Spongebob Squarepants is incomprehensible to me. I seem to remember a study found that it actually reduced brain activity.
No, what I'm saying is that it wasn't designed for adults. People like to throw that argument around.
People also like to throw that argument around. I think where we differ here is that you believe more in conforming to society's expectations of what you believe is "age-appropriate". Personally I feel that age is used as a factor far more often than it should be.

I will say that in a perfect world, we wouldn't need "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic" to increase the general understanding of friendship. But the world is far from perfect.
Not all of us are capable of understanding it outright. I see so many adults too fall into the same pitfalls as the people around me. If they were to understand the lessons of the show, even if it were the same lessons presented in a different way, a more sophisticated way, it would do them a lot of good. I see the show as one of many means to a better end. "There is one mountain, but many paths." Can you at least accept that?

i'm sorry but you don't learn stuff about friendship from a cutesy TV show
you learn about friendship by having friends.

if you want to watch ponies on TV go ahead
but don't say it's because you learn from it lol

Some people learn best by action, others learn best by action combined with visual media. I know that many of the people that surround me make the same damn mistakes, over and over and over, and they just don't get it.

holy stuff the guy at like 9:30 who sings the theme song LOL

Are you serious?

Are you serious?
What do you mean by that?
In a perfect world everyone would understand automatically. This world is not perfect. I have friends who have learned from a combination of watching the show and applying it's lessons to their lives. Therefore, it has increased the general understanding of friendship.
My wording was not superb in the original quote there. My apologies.

It's okay I forgot what I was going to say anyways

bill this is probably going to be hard to accept but I'm going to have to say it in a straightforward manner
the way you and the rest of the fandom thinks is absolutely broken. while it certainly doesn't feel that way internally, it's quite apparent to everyone else.
Spongebob Squarepants is incomprehensible to me. I seem to remember a study found that it actually reduced brain activity.
the recent episodes have been really frustrating
spongebob is a show that not only uses actual humor well (not stuffty pop culture references) but also teaches a plethora of morals.
spongebob is the show that taught me a lot of my vocabulary today, and forged my sense of humor to a degree.
going back to your roots and revisiting childhood experiences is not a bad thing - but when it becomes an entire fandom and broken cult, there's a problem. there's an obvious lack of general understanding when people need cartoon ponies to tell them what friendship is.
the thing about the fandom is because it has progressed so far, no one wants to admit they're wrong. no brony could ever stand accepting that the show is pointless and meant for children because they're too engrossed. no brony has changed their mind and gone "oh, maybe this show is bad and I should get rid of all this memorabilia."

Spongebob was like how you described it back in the 90's but in more recent years the idiocy level has gone WAY up

They can do what they want as long as they keep the hell away from me
