bill this is probably going to be hard to accept but I'm going to have to say it in a straightforward manner
the way you and the rest of the fandom thinks is absolutely broken. while it certainly doesn't feel that way internally, it's quite apparent to everyone else.
Spongebob Squarepants is incomprehensible to me. I seem to remember a study found that it actually reduced brain activity.
the recent episodes have been really frustrating
spongebob is a show that not only uses actual humor well (not stuffty pop culture references) but also teaches a plethora of morals.
spongebob is the show that taught me a lot of my vocabulary today, and forged my sense of humor to a degree.
going back to your roots and revisiting childhood experiences is not a bad thing - but when it becomes an entire fandom and broken cult, there's a problem. there's an obvious lack of general understanding when people need cartoon ponies to tell them what friendship is.
the thing about the fandom is because it has progressed so far, no one wants to admit they're wrong. no brony could ever stand accepting that the show is pointless and meant for children because they're too engrossed. no brony has changed their mind and gone "oh, maybe this show is bad and I should get rid of all this memorabilia."
