Gold and Silver buckos

Everything else is all Fiat

if the global economy crashed so hard that the dollar was suddenly worthless, gold and silver wouldnt be worth anything either

people would be looking for food, fuel, and medicine above anything else

This is where everyone gets it wrong. This is an outright incorrect statement.

If they are going to be looking for food and other things above all else, what are they going to trade for it? Despite any global crashes there's always something that people fall back on for intrinsic value. Its always been that way with gold and silver. It never loses value.

Heres some good videos on the subject

Gold and silver don't have true intrinsic value. They are only valuable because we, as a society, value them as precious metals.

Food, water, fuel and land are all intrinsically valuable because you can't survive without them. No matter what happens in the world, those things will always be valuable.

i dunno about you guys but i cant eat gold and silver

So where do precious metals get their value? Their value derives from nothing less than their efficacy as a medium of exchange - as a money. It may sound weird at first, or perhaps tautological, to claim that gold is valuable because it can be used as value, but this is precisely the point. Precious metals, by their natural characteristics, are simply those commodities which are best suited to be used as money. A brief examination readily testifies the point.

Nobody has ever decided that grass or mainly rubber is a good medium of exchange

You wouldn't trade Gold and Silver, you would trade things like food or supplies
