Why can't you just hold W while walking passed stairs to go up them

Or alternatively hold S while walking passed stairs to not go up them

Has someone already brought this to the attention of someone who can do something about it because I really like the idea of having stairs in buildings because they look nice but if navigating around them is going to be a chore I'd rather just have platforms to jump up

stairs and platform blocks are the single worst thing in this game. having to tap the keys in order to descend one level without falling 12 and dying is horsestuff.

The concept for moving down platforms is good because it was a pain in the ass to mash the spacebar in Terraria but it just doesn't work in practice because of how nasty fall damage is
