Novakid

Author Topic: Starbound Megathread - Version 1.3.2  (Read 905530 times)

i hope the 8th race is something that doesn't actually exist yet

avians are just bird people
florans are just plant people
glitches are just robot people
apex are just monkey people
novakids are just star people
hylotls are just fish people

when are we gonna get a race that isn't just [noun] people
we won't

I wish races changed how you could play the game, like glitches take damage in water

This. Why can't the Hylotl breathe under water from the start? Maybe Novakids are healed by radiation. Avians can double jump. Florans are healed by any water. Etc.

I don't like the idea that they take damage from water, since that seems really annoying to using them. It's practically impossible to avoid water when underground in caves, and in the starter systems, most of your lush/forest planets just have loads and loads of rain.

If it had a different, but logical effect though, like slowing them down, or lowering defence a little (rust prevents you from moving smoothly, and makes you brittle), but wasn't guaranteed to kill them, that'd be good.
Similarly they should operate better in dryer environments better perhaps.
Or, not require air to live, seeing as how they're robots and don't have lungs. So that way they could swim indefinitly or survive on moons/meteors without the special tech?

robots would also have better heat, cold, and radiation tolerance in most cases but that'd be OP

also server's up

So loving salty right now. That god damn penguin mech, jesus loving christ. I had him down to 3 bars of health and he loving charged me.

Told you about dem penguin bro.

I guess that'd make it less annoying and still make sense. Still though, making it so you have to change your surroundings to make it safer would be cool

I just want there to be major differences when using different races and not just some different type of humanoid character

I dont get why glitch need to breath though. they are robots. I should be able to go on moons without gear

imo it should be like this-

glitch: weak to pressurized water. rain doesn't effect them, but being fully submerged in a body of water will deal similar damage to teleporting down to a planet that needs a nanosuit which you don't have. however, they are immune to radiation. does not take damage from healing water, but is not healed by healing water. weak to warhammers and maces. immune to electrical damage, as it does nothing but charge you. race weapon specialty: warhammers maces, crossbows and lances- heavier spears that, like an avian with a spear, do extra damage if you're running towards the opponent you hit. or if he's running at you. or falling at you. too heavy to have this damage bonus if you are in the air for any reason. (this is in part to stop avians from getting both damage bonuses). slower than the other races because of their mechanical joints. they require energy cells or electricity, not food. they require these recharges more often than the other species get hungry. they also have a race specialty crafting station that can make food into small energy cells.

novakid: immune to ambient heat. they don't need the heat nanosuit, and they don't get damaged if they're set on fire. however, they are weak to the cold and need armor with insulation to survive on a cold planet, even with the cold nanosuit. reduced damage from falling in lava, but still more damaging than poison. weak to weapons that have a cold effect. race weapon specialty: all firearms, meaning not the crossbow.

floran: immune to poison. part evolution, part hunter training. weak to slicing weapons like swords. race weapon specialty: the ability to make poison which can be applied to a blade and make it do poison damage for a given amount of swings. also swords, axes and bows.

hyotl: can breathe in water, weak to heat. double the damage when on fire or in lava, and needs a specialized heat nanosuit that keeps the hyotl's skin hydrated. weak to weapons with a fire effect. slight damage bonus with spears due to experience using spears to catch fish. race weapon specialty: multi-pronged spears, such as a trident.

apex: uses healing items to somewhat greater effect because of their advanced knowledge of medicine. no weaknesses because their racial buff isn't that amazing. race weapon specialty: the dagger, pistol, and laser guns.

avians: capable of flight, except when covered in oil. weakest physical strength due to their bodies being optimized for flights, not fights. damage bonus in combat if they dive on their victims with a spear. race weapon specialty: spears, throwing spears, and daggers.

humans: ambitious. faster crafting and mining than all the other races. no weapon specialty as they are  the jack of all trades.

again, glitch would realistically be resistant to everything.

Issue after issue
This game lags like all loving hell for no real reason, i can play literally any game just fine but this game proceeds to forget me
I've looked for fixes but haven't found anything good so far so some help would be much appreciated

because they are master race, of course

robots can have their circuits fried from electrical currents though

you can't, the graphics options are limited like forget and cause of the lighting you're lagging
unless they change that your game will continue lagging, what I did to avoid the lag was play on multiplayer a lot

basic waterproofing methods can prevent the water getting to the circuits and frying them, and seeing as how rain is a thing it's not an unrealistic expectation that glitch would be built waterproof

immune to electrical damage, as it does nothing but charge you.
I was talking about this, too much electrical currents and it'll fry circuits so it makes sense as it is
