**Blip**

Scanners have picked up something after moving some distance. The source is clear as day and it is lit up like a christmas tree. An SOS. It seems to be coming from a nearby asteroid field. The ship can do a short distance warp to it.

"We have something."
"What is it?"
"An SOS."
"Where?"
"Asteroid field."
"When this sucker would get blown away by one rock? Yeah, great idea."
"They might have something of use to us."
"See if you can get anything else. Check the speed and size of the rocks and see if you can get some radio communications with the source of that SOS."

With the weakend sensor it is impossible to read anything but the SOS. All that comes from the radio coms is static.

"Nothing."
"Augh... Warp us. It's either a trap or an SOS off of a destroyed ship."

"Check the scanners, for any forms of possible life on the planet."
"Nothing, as far as I can tell, sir."
"Then prepare to land. You're positive the planet has breathable air?"
"As sure as I'll ever be."

The five ships of the AFR slowly move into orbit of the Earthlike planet, searching for a place to land.

Computer: "Warp drive active."

The ship aligns to the source and slowly begins to drift towards it until it enters warp, moving 3 AU per second.
The ship soon enough drops out of warp , decreasing speed at a rapid rate and having issues with slowing down as its mass catches up with it.

You fly past the SOS beacon which seems to be sending the SOS. In front of you is a U shaped asteroid belt.
For a minute you think there is nothing there. But suddenly your comms are lit up by screeching.

"YARRRRRRRRWAAAAAAAA BLEEEEEEEEEEEEP."

Your ship is being locked on.

**Bleep, bleep, bleep.**

Five scout drones emerge from the asteroid belt. But who is controling them is nowhere to be seen.
The scout drones open fire, they were meant for destroying smaller ships. Not industrials the size of a noctis.
They fail to do anything to your shields and seem to express agitation and anger. One of them goes into a frenzy and shoots one of its own. Doing a decent ammount of damage, but not enough to explode.

The other drone fires back and they destroy each other.

The three remaining drones orbit the Noctis.

You see a far off ship destroyed. Crashed into an asteroid.

The AFR soon enough finds a decent landing location. An opening. Grasslands which extend for several kilometers.

"Quickly, get rid of that backup power on the radar! Get a tractor beam on that damaged one! We'll make a killing off of these fools!"

You manage to salvage one of the lesser damaged drones. However the two seem fairly damaged. One less than the other.
None the less, the three remaining drones orbit the Noctis. Soon enough one of them flies towards the tractor beam.
The beam pulls it in aswell...

"Keep pulling! Some of you get down there and get to tearing these drones apart when they're inside!"

As the damaged and offline drone is pulled in, the one that is farily active stumbles after it aswell. This one is not damage and is fully active. It opens fire in the cargo bay. Spraying all over the place. The other two drones simply orbit around the Noctis.

The hostile drone within the cargo bay runs out of ammo after a couple of seconds. One of the men is severely wounded as he unexpectedly got drawn into its line of fire.

As the drone runs out of ammo. The comms are flooded with computerized screeching. The team had recovered a fully working drone. Perhaps something can be done with it.

"We got one! Fully working! Problem is, we also have a wounded."
"GET IT UP HERE, GET THE WOUNDED PATCHED UP, AND START TEARING APART ANY OTHER DRONES THAT SHOW UP DOWN THERE!"

"TURN THE DAMN COMMS OFF ALREADY! GOOD GOD THAT SUCKER IS LOUD"

The third destroyed drone is recovered by a salvage beam automatically. It's parts guided into the cargo bay.
The two still peacefully orbit, waiting for an oppertunity. The comms get turned off. The drone within your cargo bay is traped. What do you do with it?

"Check to see what it can do. Weapons, design, parts, the whole nine yards."
"Should we rip out whatever is making it scream, first?"
"Please."

It is made for damage dealing. Large ships would often use these drones to destroy smaller ships in order to escape them.
One of your men suggests with the ammount of drones retrived you could create a blueprint for designing them.
However it would take a very long time.

But then, someone mentions that with a little rewiring and part changing, you could have a fully working drone and switch it out with one of the damaged salvage drones.

A local nerd of the ship suggests aquiring drone access codes by dismantling the drone.
He claims that with them he can attempt to sieze control of the remaining drones in orbit around the Noctis.

"Nerd, go nuts. You better not fail us, because if you pull this off we'll have three drones to defend us."
